LEGO Pre-Orders And Coming Soon

Happy Thursday friends! It’s sometimes hard to catch up on LEGO®️ news and reveals. Tom and I only have so much time in a day! So I thought I would highlight a few of the sets that we have not yet covered. In particular those currently available for pre-order. LEGO®️ pre-orders are…..rare I guess? Rewind time a bit and you would be hard-pressed to find a set for advanced sale. Cue the pandemic and the shifting retail market at the time and you suddenly have set announcements with early pre-sales. It’s common enough now I think, especially on bigger draw items. Check out each set below as well as a chart with additional ‘coming soon’ items.

MINECRAFT

There are currently four sets in the summer wave up for pre-order. This is the most of any theme on the site. I am only going to highlight the largest one. The Minecraft theme has been going strong for some time now. It’s impressive to say the least. All four sets will arrive on August 1st. If you’re curious about the other sets, scroll down for a summary chart.

SUPER MARIO

If rumours are accurate, this will be the tail end of the Super Mario theme. If the theme does retire slightly sooner than expected, it’s still a great showing. Since launching in 2020, there have been well over 130 sets – nothing to sneeze at! The pre-order set is one of seven in the Summer 2023 wave. Check out that set and a chart of the remaining six below. We have no reviews of these expansion sets, but you can check out Tom’s review of the Super Mario “?” Block (71395) and The Mighty Bowser (71411).

MARVEL

The upcoming Marvel sets include some epic scenes and some random items. In sets like the Endgame and Spider-Man Final Battle(s), you’ll get all the minifigures. Venomized Groot is adorable but confusing since I Am Groot (76217) is still on shelves. But hey, it’s a fun mash-up. Our two pre-orders are equally impressive but potentially divisive. Wolverine’s Claws don’t quite have the impact that you would hope. This mimics the design of the Infinity and Nano Gauntlets. And this is the first set based on the upcoming X-Men ’97 animated series. Even if you find Cap’s Shield boring, you gotta admire the brick engineering. It is seriously impressive construction and I can’t wait to see a speed build to see how it’s done. My only gripe is the minifig is a reuse from Avengers Endgame. I wish it was the First Avenger design instead. Ah well.

TECHNIC

The Summer Technic sets are quite the mix of price points and sizes. Six sets are inbound with just one for pre-order. We already have two in-depth reveal articles for the NASA Mars Rover Perseverance (42158) and Yamaha MT-10 SP (42159). Both of these will release on August 1st. The remaining four are a couple of fancy cars, a farm vehicle and an absolutely GIANT construction crane.

The Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000 is one of the largest Technic sets (by size) ever. It’s also easily one of the most expensive at $900 CAD. And that’s with less than 3000 pieces. All that extra costs stems from 2 smart hubs and 6 large motors to power the articulated functions using the CONTROL+ app. It’s 99cm high, highly functional and definitely makes a statement. A very, very expensive statement. If you are hankering for this beast, then now might be a good time to hit that pre-order button as all Technic sets come with 2X VIP points for LEGO®️ VIP Days. You have until tomorrow (July 15th) to take advantage.

STAR WARS

Pre-orders for Star Wars sets are probably the most common for any theme. I remember when the first Razor Crest model was announced it was up for pre-order about 9 months in advance. Which is crazy when you think about it. For this summer pre-order we’re getting something much cooler. We have the return of the Ghost and Phantom II! This is an awesome surprise and one that will please many a Star Wars fan. It is the second release of this vehicle. It first hit shelves in 2014 as a tie-in for the Star Wars Rebels TV show. After nearly 10 years it’s back and bigger than ever for the upcoming Ahsoka TV show on Disney+. We have covered a number of Summer 2023 set reveals already: The Spider Tank, Mandalorian N-1 Micro-fighter, and most….interestingly of all, the Mech Suits.

Act now – operators are standing by.

And that’s your pre-order options for the Summer 2023 wave. There’s a little bit for everyone even if only one or two sets are currently up for advance sale. Do you normally take advantage of a pre-order? I don’t think I have yet but I am tempted with the Ghost. Are there any other summer sets that catch your eye? And are you taking advantage of any VIP days promos? Comment below and in all the usual places. Thanks as always for reading and until next time, keep on brickin’. 🧱
