Hot of the heals of last week’s Star Wars set reveals comes, well, another one. The LEGO®️ Group has uploaded info and images for a third set based on the current season of The Mandalorian. And because this set is somewhat of a spoiler, it was kept on the DL until today. Episode 2 of the Mandalorian aired on March 8th. If you watched it, then you’ll know recognize this scene right away. It’s a nice call to delay things by a week to not reveal too much about the episode. That being said, it’s not a tremendous spoiler by any stretch. It is however a great scene with a scary and awesomely designed monster. Let’s take a closer look.

The Spider Tank is vehicle for some type of cybernetic monster/scavenger. It lives in the mines of Mandalore and Din Djarin (Mando) runs afoul of it while he’s questing. It’s a really great episode with some wildly fun moments. The model itself looks pretty good, capturing a fair bit of detail. At first glance it doesn’t look like 526 pieces, but I guess this is a dense construction with good articulation. The legs and head move and there’s an opening compartment.

Eagle-eyed readers will no doubt spot the all-new Dark Saber element. Gone is that ridiculous black 4L rod. We finally get a proper flat black blade with what looks like a detailed edge? There’s only the one photo to go by at the moment sadly. I did take some screen captures from the 360° turnaround video on the website for a couple of different angles. Mando is the same minifigure as the other two sets, so he has that great new helmet printing. Bo Katan comes with a new print as well. I think. Honestly I can’t tell from one image and no close ups. But if so, then it’s a nice bonus for the set.
Pre-Order Now
The Spider Tank is available for pre-order for an August 1st release. Happily this set also comes at a much better price-per-brick compared to the microfighter or Snub Fighter sets. And it’s a half-decent way to get the newer Mando fig with the new weapon, not to mention a new Bo Katan. I know I’m eager to see where the season heads. And with that, hopefully get some great sets. What do you think of the Spider tank? Are you excited for the new Dark Saber piece? Keeping up with Season 3? Ready for more summer Star Wars sets? Comment below and in all the usual spots. Thanks as always for reading and until next time, keep on brickin’. 🧱
