This week’s Minifigure Monday custom creation is not overly customized. In fact, all I changed on the character was the face. I named her Alda Greiharr. Alda was a Norse womens’ name meaning old or wise. Greiharr is a compound word composed of the Viking terms grei (grey) and harr (hair). She is part of the story for the first section of my Viking settlement project, which I am almost ready to share here on the blog.

Truthfully, I did not customize this character very much. She is basically Sherry Scratchen-Post for the LEGO® Movie 2 Minifigures Series. All I did was change her head. The glasses on the original character do not work well with my Viking theme. However, the printing on the character is perfect for my story. I even left her elderly, and I’ll explain why later.

Sherry Scratchen-Post finds new life.
Interestingly, I did not like Sherry much when I reviewed the LEGO® Movie 2 minifigs back in 2019. I remember writing that I had no use for the character. I also wrote “maybe Scratchen-post will find a purpose in the end somehow”. Almost six years later, her destiny is fulfilled. This is a prime example of why you should collect at least one of every Minifigure in a series if you are into customizing. You never know when a character, or elements from one, will become useful in future projects. I have often lamented not buying a minifig when it was readily available, and then having to pay Bricklink prices for it later. Now, a character I did not initially want has proven very useful.

Sherry is now Alda Greiharr. I imagine her as a weathered shield maiden. Once she was a fierce, raiding Viking. However, age and years of battle have caught up with her. Perhaps her desire to go on long voyages is no longer what it used to be. But her usefulness to her community remains. She is still a skilled warrior with ample experience. She can train future Vikings, and she can also defend her village. I designed her as a sentry on the first dock I built in the MOC I am working on.

Alda Greiharr offers a sneak peek…
Of course, other characters inhabit the first 48×48 baseplate of my Viking settlement. If you’ve followed along with these Minifigure Monday posts, you have already met Kónæn Stígandr, Hann Maðr, and the Series 25 Fierce Barbarian, who all appear in this build. There are a couple more to come, as well as my reveal of the build itself. Stay tuned!
Until next time,
-Tom
