I’ve been on a Minifigure creation spree lately. I am slowly building up a custom LEGO® Viking world, and building my own characters to populate it is quite enjoyable. That is not to say that the LEGO® Group has not made characters worthy of inclusion. To the contrary, there are Minifigures I intend to include as they were designed. Today, let’s take a break from custom characters and appreciate the Fierce Barbarian from Minifigures Series 25.

In recent posts, I shared my custom He-Man and Conan inspired minifigs. I imagine them as a team roaming my boreal landscape. But a team needs more than two members. While I could design more myself, the Fierce Barbarian lends herself well to that purpose. Plus, she was one of my favourite Minifigures from Series 25. Why mess with a good thing? Not to mention that she already goes very well with Kónæn Stígandr.

I feel like LEGO® designers were inspired by Red Sonja here…

In the 1970s, Marvel Comics introduced the character of Red Sonja to the world of Conan the Barbarian. Creators Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith based her off of a character created by Robert E. Howard (who also created Conan). Howard’s version was not related to Conan though. Since then, Sonja went on to star in many comic books, movies, and books. The Fierce Barbarian Minifigure reminds me a lot of Red Sonja from the 1985 film starring Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

When Series 25 came out, I bought a whole box. So, I have three of these minfigs to work with. I will keep one as intended in my Norse world. But, the character includes lots of great parts I can reuse on custom characters. In fact, my He-Man wannabe already uses the legs. What do you think of the Fierce Barbarian?
