The LEGO® Group has announced a large number of new products hitting store shelves on January 1, 2025. I recently gave my thoughts on Minifigures Series 27. Today, I thought I’d take a gander at Leonardo da Vinci’s Flying Machine (10363). It is one of a small number of sets that actually interest me in the upcoming slew of releases. Let’s take a closer look.

My thoughts…
I love the da Vinci Minifigure. I took the liberty of blowing up one of the product images to get a slightly better look. The fur coat is awesome. Viktor Krum from the LEGO® Harry Potter Triwizard Tournament Arrival set had a similar design. I repurposed it for my custom Viking Merchant minifig. If I end up picking up this flying machine set, you can bet da Vinci will get similar treatment.

The set looks pretty cool too. According the LEGO® website, the wings and tail fin all move. Since da Vinci designed this contraption in the 1400s, it has a primitive, wooden look to it. Similar to the minifig, that suits my current Viking-inspired build projects. While the Viking age was hundreds of years before da Vinci, my creations are fictional. Consequently, I could include a crazy inventor and flying machine that looks like this in my stories.

In terms of value, the set is better than average for this day and age. The Minifigure count is okay for an Icons set as well. With that said, the minifig count is less impressive when compared to LEGO® sets in general. However, I am hard pressed to think of what other characters you could include in a set like this.

I have not covered many of the January 2025 releases because I don’t feel most of them offer anything interesting or new. But Leonardo da Vinci’s Flying Machine has intrigued me, and the price point is not that bad either. This set makes my wish list. What do you think? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom

I do like the look of this but not sure about the price (£55 in UK). I wonder if it will be Lego exclusive or if I’ll be able to find it reduced somewhere else at some point.
It is not currently listed as “exclusive” or “hard to find” on the Lego website, so my guess is it will be available elsewhere.
