The LEGO® Group recently revealed Minifigures Series 27. While I’ve been keeping mum on LEGO® reveals lately, the Minifigure collections genuinely interest me and many of you. Consequently, I thought I’d share my initial thoughts on this wave. As a classic Castles and Pirates fan, Series 27 has a couple of interesting additions. However, the last collection of Dungeons and Dragons minifigs was really a chef’s kiss of a series in my mind… Series 27 just doesn’t hold a candle to it. But let’s take a closer look anyway.

My Top Pick from Minifigures Series 27:

The Wolfpack Beastmaster is the most interesting character in this wave. I also think army builders will hoard this character, making him hard to find. While I don’t plan to build a Wolfpack army, I do intend to buy multiples of this character. I love the parts you get. I don’t really need the torso or shield in my current Viking builds, but the rest of elements lend themselves really well to my projects. This character also comes with a new wolf figurine, and I love LEGO® animals. I’ll need several of these characters just to build up a pack.
Runner Up:

Pirates was probably my favourite theme as a kid. As such, the Pirate Quartermaster is a pretty close second to the Wolfpack Beastmaster. This character also comes with a new animal mould in the form of a cockatoo. I’m not building any pirates scenes right now… but I always have something pirates related on display in my LEGO® room. This character will join one of my ship crews.
Third place goes to…

I do not currently have any use for this character… but he looks awesome. Plus, experience has shown me that you never know when you might need an element from any given character in future builds. His legs could pass as Viking depending on the other elements used to build a character.

As for the rest…
I’m not really a fan of the majority of characters in Minifigures Series 27. Some of them have interesting elements though. The Cat Lover comes with the closest figurine resembling my cat that the LEGO® Group has ever made. I also appreciate the Astronomer Kid’s prosthetic arm. Since I like having different LEGO® book accessories, the Bogeyman’s book appeals to me as well. But otherwise? This series feels largely like a fizzle to me. Sometimes I feel differently when I actually see the characters in person… only time will tell. What do you think? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom

I was disappointed by these. The only one I’d be interested in is the Wolfpack Beastmaster but as you say he’ll probably be very hard to find.
I guess not every series can be a winner for everyone… At least we’ll get the beast master.
