Haunted House Coming Soon

This summer, the Creator Expert line is returning to the fairground! 2015 saw the release of the Ferris Wheel, 2017 the Carousel, and 2018 the Roller Coaster. While the Creator 3-in-1 and City themes featured smaller fairground sets in the interim, this is the first large scale theme park ride in two years. This year’s attraction is the Haunted House (10273), featuring a free-fall elevator.

The official press release describes the set as follows:

Gear up for a spooky ride and bring to life the ultimate ghostly fairground experience, with the brand-new LEGO® Haunted House set. This latest addition to the LEGO Fairground collection is jam-packed with exciting features to surprise and entertain even the bravest of thrill-seekers… Its clever design features a fully functional free-fall ride with automatic doors at the top of the tower, giving brave riders a glimpse of the thrilling plummet to come… To enhance the spooky experience even further and unlock special features, such as a moving elevator, fans can also add LEGO Powered Up components (available separately).

Interestingly, this new theme park attraction houses Easter eggs for fans of the ‘90s Adventurers theme. The character of Samuel Von Barron features prominently in the set. He was the nemesis of Johnny Thunder. Incidentally, the LEGO® Group revived Thunder in Minifigures Series 19. Additionally, the theme received a shout-out in the Scooby-Doo Mummy Museum Mystery set.

Haunted House sales begin May 20 for VIPs. General sale of the set starts June 1. The kit retails for $299.99 in Canada, $249.99 USD, $349.99 AUD, £209.99, and approximately €229.99 (depending on country). In terms of set specifics:

The Haunted House is an excellent value at $0.09/brick. Comparatively, my average cost-per-brick is currently $0.14. However, despite the inclusion of 10 characters, you do not actually get very many Minifigures for a kit of this size. By comparison, my average ratio of bricks to Minifigures is 154-to-1 now. None-the-less, I remain intrigued. I look forward to seeing the build techniques and mechanics of the free-fall ride. What are your thoughts on this new theme park set? Until next time,

-Tom

  1. Also, just one more thing. That last minifugure, looked a whole lot like Nya. She’s wearing her jacket, and, she has a mole on her left cheek. Just switch out the hair, and, BOOM. Older Nya.
