Back in February 2025, I wrote I about the launch of the online Minfigure Factory here in Canada. I’m not going to go in depth about the creation process since I covered it in that earlier article. Suffice to say, the design options were a little limited at launch. However, I still had a good time designing a new sig fig jersey. Now, my order has arrived, and I can share the completion of my Minifigure Factory experience.

I had major problems with UPS on this shipment. I ordered it on February 18, it did not arrive until March 5. Some might say two weeks of waiting is not unreasonable. However, Minifigure Factory shipments are supposed to be delivered within five working days. To be clear, this was not the LEGO® Group’s fault. They shipped my order promptly. The package arrived at my local UPS facility and basically did not move from there for 11 days. The same repeating messages about the item getting scanned and then failing to deliver due to bad weather appeared over and over, each day when I tracked the package. There was no bad weather.

UPS claimed they couldn’t deliver for over a week due to bad weather… the package was 20 minutes from my house and the sun was shining most days…

In the end, I got fed up. UPS would not let me file a complaint since I was not the sender. So, I called LEGO® customer service. They were wonderful and offered to resend my product since it was way past the five day deadline. Sure enough, a couple of hours after I called LEGO®, my original order finally arrived. I called the LEGO® Group back, thanked them for offering to send a replacement, but said that I didn’t need it. They sent it anyway. Now I have two of my custom Minifigures. I have to say that LEGO® customer service has always been good to me.

The second package arrived two days after I spoke to customer service. So, provided UPS does not screw up your delivery, the timeline for ordering a custom Minifigure seems pretty good and in line with the Pick-A-Brick bestseller list. As for the print quality, it is also good. The colours are vibrant and the design is clean. I made an approximation of my True North Bricks logo for the front of the jersey. On the rear, I placed the number 16 in another brick (True North Bricks launched in 2016).

I have two minor issues with my Minifigure Factory experience…

I guess I have two complaints about the Minifigure Factory product. Firstly, you can’t customize the 1×3 brick included. When you use the Minifigure Factory at a LEGO® Store, you can have your name printed on the brick. Another difference is the box. The packaging you get in store is nicer than what you get via the online experience. However, neither of these complaints are the end of the world.

I am content with my customized Minifigure… but I am presently unlikely to order another one. The options are too limited and a price is quite high. With that said, I’ll still check the system periodically for updates. If more options and accessories pop up, I might try again. I could also see myself making a Minifigure for someone else as a gift, but again, the Minifigure Factory experience needs more options. Have you ordered a custom Minifigure yet? What did you think of the experience? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,

-Tom

  1. Your minifigure looks great!! Love the hat.
Currently awaiting 2 minifigures that “loosely resemble” my girlfriend, myself and our dogs as accessories. Excited to see how they turned out!
Thought the creation platform was pretty good- straight forward and easy to edit as you design.
I understand why the selection of items is limited as this is the beginning of the online experience. However my one nag is that at least half of the torso options do not match with the standard issued white arms…the tank top made me laugh 😆

    1. Yeah, the white arms are not always the best… I will swap mine out for blue arms to match the jersey.
