Hot on the heels of the leaked image yesterday, the LEGO® Group made their Medieval Town Square official reveal today. All the set details are now available, and I’m happy to say that almost all of my previous speculation was correct. I can confirm that my price estimate was good, as was my theory on the pre-sale date (see details below). Additionally, the knight is indeed a Lion Knight, and the buildings feature a swing-open design. Interestingly, LEGO® advertises this as “Felsa Village”, and claims it should look familiar since it is based on the 2009 Medieval Market Village… I still don’t really see the resemblance.

Medieval Town Square

In terms of play spaces in the village, you will get a tax collector, shieldsmith shop, Broken Axes Inn, farm house, watch tower, cheese factory, and some market spaces. Additionally, we now have a clear look at the new colour variant of the goat, which is one of three animals in the kit. You also acquire a squirrel and a cat. Given the popularity of the goat, I feel like the set could include more than one. I also think the set needs a lot more Minifigures. 413 bricks/fig is a pretty bad ratio. While it is on par with most other Icons sets, it represents a low Minifigure count compared to LEGO® sets in general. Sets aimed at kids should not be the only ones to include high minifig counts, adults like them too. This is also a town square, it should be bustling.

A lot of you shared your thoughts following yesterday’s first look at the set. Now following LEGO’s Medieval Town Square official reveal, have your thoughts changed? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,

-Tom

  1. I’ve just finished building the Medieval Blacksmith and this seems like a good match. Not sure I have the space to create and display full medieval theme though. There’s a few things that I’m not sure about too (not sure how I feel about the open back design, the roofs, etc) so will wait until I see it on display at my local Lego store before deciding. I wasn’t sure about the Viking Village either but having seen that on display it is now on my wish list.

    1. Waiting to see it yourself is a good practice. I often change my mind when I see things. You can always convert sets into modular buildings too.

  2. I like it and will buy it just as I did with the Viking Village.
It is new and different from the previous Medieval Market Village.
Eight minifigures is alright in my humble opinion.
I can also add the goatherd and goat from CMF 25.
A few more animals might have been nice in this set, but………….
Remember that it is a Medieval Town Square and not the older Medieval Market Village.
Change is good and it will go well with my Lion Knights’ Castle.
I also have the Medieval Blacksmith set.

Tom, thank you for providing all the new information.

    Cheers. Cobra64

    1. I have the blacksmith too, can’t wait to see them together! And you’re most welcome 😁
