The online rumour mill has been bustling with whispers of a new medieval themed set for months. Early speculation suggested it was a recreation of the famed LEGO® Medieval Market Village from the 2009 Castle run. Now, we get a first look at the LEGO® Medieval Town Square. Details remain scant at this time, but a pretty clear image of the box surfaced on Reddit. While I’ve liked the look of certain 2024 LEGO® sets released so far, I have not actually bought any (except Minifigures Series 25). I’m on the fence about most of them, and others I’d rather buy on sale. This Medieval Town Square is probably the first set this year to reach my definite buys list.

NOTE: More details were release about this set a day after publication. Click here to see the new article with more images and information.

First look at the LEGO Medieval Town Square box.
LEGO® Medieval Town Square (10332) rumoured for a March 2024 release.

We can already pull some fairly interesting details from the packaging. Firstly, at 3304 bricks, you know this will not be a low budget set. Rumours place the kit at $230 USD. Based on other Icons sets, my guess puts the Medieval Village in the $300-$350 CAD range. Additionally, it looks like the buildings swing open on hinges, like the Medieval Market Village did. The side panel suggests the building on front right swings closed. And while I do not see many animals in the box art, I do see a grey goat. I speculated new colour variants of this figurine might surface in sets after its recently returned in Minifigures Series 25.

Part of Medieval Town Square reminds me a lot of a 1980s LEGO® set…

Despite the rumours suggesting a recreation of Medieval Market Village, this first look at the LEGO® Medieval Town Square does not bear much similarity. In fact, I see more hints of classic Castles sets if anything. The red building with the grey tower hearkens to the Guarded Inn (6067) from 1986. The white building also features a slanted roof similar in style to many of the original Castle theme sets. I’m loving all the thatched roofing though. That was one of my favourite features from the Lions Knights Castle.

As for Minifigures, the image doesn’t shed much light. I can see seven. The knights faction represented is not clear. However, the knight looks red and blue. Given the recent resurgence of Lion Knights, and the fact that Lion Knights were represented in the Guarded Inn set, I’m going to assume it’s a Lion Knight in the Medieval Town Square as well. As for the release date, it remains unconfirmed. Rumours suggest March 3. If that’s the case, I’m guessing Insiders early access begins on March 1… but take that with a grain of salt. What are your thoughts on the LEGO® Medieval Town Square? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,

-Tom

  1. I was worried that this would be too similar to the last version. I love how it turned out. Each building seems small, but that means they’re perfect to double-size. Will go great with my 2x size versions of Blacksmith, Forest Hideout, Majisto Workshop, and the original marketplace buildings. I won’t be able to 2x the Mountain Fortress, but I did at least snag 1 of them today!

    1. That sounds like a great set-up! Doubling up the Mountain Fortress is probably not in most people’s budgets 😂

  2. Considering the Mountain Fortress is almost sold out (https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-1/482/Mountain-Fortress), the Town Square will be popular!

    1. I had a feeling that Bricklink set would be popular. They really need to just bring Castles back as a proper theme 😂

    2. Actually, I opted for the Mountain Fortress precisely because I don’t like the look of this Medieval Town Square!

      1. Same. The first look of the medieval town square is what solidified my resolve to buy a mountain fortress.
I was going to skip the BDP if this set looked amazing, but I found this a bit underwhelming.

      2. I can’t blame you guys, the Mountain Fortress looks amazing.

  3. Love it!
I can count eight minifigures plus the GOAT, a squirrel, and either a cat or dog.

Thank you for giving us an advanced look at the set.
It is on my must buy list.

    Cheers Cobra64

    1. I think it’s a cat… Could be wrong. I think you’re right about the eight minifigs though👍
