Guardians Vol. 3 Sets Revealed

The Guardians of the Galaxy are back in theatres this summer for Volume 3. Our titular heroes are all back and judging by the trailers, it might be their last hurrah. This latest installment is the last for writer/director James Gunn as he is now the co-lead of the rebooting DC Comics film universe (DCU). So if this is the last film in the franchise, expect some twists and possibly some deaths! If you caught the newest trailer that premiered during the Super Bowl then you know what I mean. The Guardians franchise is great and the two films are some of my faves in the MCU. I’m super excited this one.

The LEGO®️ Group is bringing at least three sets to market to tie-in with the film this Spring. The team is sporting all new uniforms and a brand new ship. There’s some fun new designs and surprises for sure. Let’s take a look at what’s coming up.

I like the new minifigure designs quite a bit. The Guardians definitely seem a little more organized this time around. That smallest set is a decently cheap way to get two minifigs but at not even 100 pieces, there’s not much to go on. ‘Swole Groot’ as he’s being called is a decent update to the fig. Baby Rocket is adorable but…are we talking his son? Rocket’s past self? I have so many questions. It’s a cool ship design though, as is the New Guardian’s ship. That teal and magenta colour scheme reminds me of Sweet Mayhem’s Sistar Starship from The LEGO®️ Movie 2. It’s a bold palette to be sure. Like the amazing Guardians’ Ship (76193) before it, a display stand is included. Adam Warlock looks pretty awesome too, I’m eager to grab that minfigure for the collection. Overall, not a bad collection for the next big MCU flick.

More to come?

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sets have a little bit of everything. But strangely absent are at least two characters: Gamora and the film’s villain, the High Evolutionary. Not seeing these two makes me think a 4th set is on the way. Spoilers might mean it will only release after the film hits theatres in May. The same may be true for this weekend’s Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania film. So far only The Ant-Man Buildable Figurine (75256) has been announced, and even then only arrives on May 1st. Which leads me to think there’s additional sets that might show up in the Summer Wave for that film as well. We absolutely need a Kang the Conqueror minifigure, so here’s hoping.

What do you think of these Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3 sets? Are you excited for the film? Are you looking forward to Phase 5 of the MCU? Do you think it’s the end for this band of loveable heroes? Comment below and let me know in all the usual spots. Thanks as always for reading and until next time, keep on brickin’. 🧱
