It is Minifigure Monday! Consequently, it is time for the sixth reveal in my Star Trek Voyager series. This week, we take a look at the Ensign Harry Kim Fantasy Minifigure. Kim appears sixth in the pilot episode of the show. We first encounter his character aboard Deep Space Nine. In fact, the episode even includes a guest appearance from Quark. Kim is about to get swindled by the Ferengi when Tom Paris lends a helping hand.
For this drawing, I continued trying to manipulate Minifigures into new, semi-lifelike positions. I practiced drawing crossed Minifigure arms. It is surprisingly difficult to figure out how the arms would sit since they do not actually move that way in reality. Ultimately, I don’t like this variant as much as the Tom Paris version I drew earlier. The one hand not grasping anything looks a little off to me in the end… But, perhaps Minifigure arms are just not meant to cross, LOL.
Looks a little more like his wrist is sore than crossing his arms?

In terms of my action figure collection, it contains two Kim figurines. The first wave contained the standard Starfleet uniform variant in 1995. He came with a phaser, tricorder, polaric generator, anti-polaric armband, a field kit, display base, and trading card. Playmates produced a second figurine in 1998 as part of their Star Trek Aliens series. This one also wore the standard Starfleet uniform. However, in this case, Kim was infected by Species 8472. Incidentally, this version of Kim also came in a two-pack with a figurine of Species 8472. The scene depicted comes from the two-part episode, Scorpion. It spanned the final episode of season three and the first of season four.

Harry Kim was portrayed by Garrett Wang for all seven seasons of Voyager. I met Wang at the official Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas back in 2012. Unlike many other cast members I met on that trip, Wang had a booth open in the vendor’s area. I was able to walk right up and chat with him. He even took the time to personalize the autograph and pose for a photo. It didn’t even cost me extra!
And another from the 2012 official Star Trek Convention in Vegas!

There you have it, the Harry Kim fantasy Minifigure! That means we are officially halfway through my Voyager series. Next week, we continue with the seventh reveal, also from the pilot episode. As always, feel free to go back and watch the episode for a teaser… or just wait another week for the official reveal here. To see other entries from this Voyager series, click here. Otherwise, let me know what you think in the comments below or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom

Haha, I think I like this one the best out of this series, MAYBE beside Chakotay. He looked pretty great. I just love Harry’s expression here.😂 Hairpiece choice was pretty great, too.
I have very much been enjoying this series, as a Voyager fan myself, and I am VERY excited for the rest of it! Keep up the excellent work!
So glad you’re enjoying the series! Equally thrilled this drawing hit the mark. Six more characters coming😀
