Attention Muggles! The newest selection of sets for the Summer 2022 wave of the Harry Potter theme has just been revealed. The LEGO®️ Group surprised us all this morning with the announcement of all-new awesomeness on their social media channels. An impressive 7 new sets are currently up on LEGO.COM with a release date of June 19th in North America. If you live in Europe however, you can snag these slightly earlier on June 1st. In the past we’ve often seen a much longer gap for Harry Potter sets releasing in Canada/USA versus Europe. It’s nice to see that window shrink a bit!
And wooooooowwwzzza these are some great looking sets. 😃 The diversity of the selection is wonderful – a little something from almost each film. And most exciting of all is we finally get a set based on The Deathly Hallows. The Ministry of Magic is a wild set with lots of minifigures and great scenery. It’s also the second largest set after, my personal favorite, 12 Grimauld Place. Throw in a Hungarian Horntail, some Thestrals and more Hogwarts Castle expansions and you’ve got yourself a party! ACCIO ALL OF THEM!
I routinely find myself liking if not loving any new Harry Potter sets. This theme is so consistently strong. Settings and building are lovingly realized, and the minifigures are some of the best around. This IP has a lot of care put into all the details big and small. This wave is no different and I’m thrilled to see brand new references – Deathly Hallows in particular. I am absolutely picking up 12 Grimmauld Place, the Carriage and The Horntail. Price points are a bit higher than in the past, but it’s not unexpected with big IPs.
I am collecting the majority of the minifigures from this current HP run and at this point I’m at over 200 figs. Seeing all these great new figs make me simultaneously giddy and crazy. I need a Room of Requirement to keep all this stuff! But I’m sure some of you understand my pains. What do you think? Are you excited for this new wave? Which set is you favourite?
