2022 Harry Potter Sets Revealed

The Magic of Harry Potter will continue in 2022 with the recent announcement of three more sets for the Spring wave. Available on March 1st, we will get a new addition to the Hogwarts Castle collection and two more Hogwarts Moments Book builds. These sets join the already listed Hogwarts Magical Trunk (76399) releasing on the same day. Traditionally, we get sets on January 1st. But this year some muggle probably mixed up the dates and here we are. Ah well. In any event, these look like some nice additions to the line. Let’s have a quick look.

HOGWARTS Moment: Divination Class

  • SET #: 76396
  • THEME: Harry Potter
  • COST: $39.99
  • BRICK COUNT: 297
  • MINIFIGURES: 3
  • RELEASE DATE: March 1, 2022
  • COST/BRICK: $0.13 (average value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 99 bricks/fig (excellent value)
  • DIMENSIONS: 12cm high x 9cm wide x 4cm deep

Divination Class is one of two Hogwarts Moments sets that will release on March 1st. This is the 5th set in the series after the 4 initial books from January 2021. For a review of those sets click here. Divination Class recreates the schoolroom of Professor Trelawney as seen in The Prisoner of Azkaban film. She is one of 3 new minifigures along with Harry Potter and Parvati Patil. Trelawney has a great new torso print with dual-molded legs. Parvati is the 2nd minifigure made of the character, this time with Hogwarts robes.

HOGWARTS Moment: DEFEnce Class

  • SET #: 76397
  • THEME: Harry Potter
  • COST: $39.99
  • BRICK COUNT: 257
  • MINIFIGURES: 3
  • RELEASE DATE: March 1, 2022
  • COST/BRICK: $0.15 (OK value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 86 bricks/fig (excellent value)
  • DIMENSIONS: 12cm high x 9cm wide x 4cm deep

Defence Class brings us everyone’s favourite course with the highest turnover rate. This is Alistair Moody’s classroom from the 4th film, The Goblet of Fire. Like all the other Moments sets, stickers and brick-built accessories faithfully recreate the setting. The 3 minifigures include Hermione, Neville and Professor Moody. Mad-Eye Moody gets a new colouring on his jacket and a slightly new expression. Like his CMF counterpart (the first of his minifigs), his alternate expression is Barty Crouch Jr. complete with alternate hair piece. Minor editorial: I really want to see some new older versions of Neville. We need some variety because he’s in either a Hogwarts robe or a herbology smock. Here’s hopin’.

HOGWARTS hospital wing

  • SET #: 76398
  • THEME: Harry Potter
  • COST: $64.99
  • BRICK COUNT: 510
  • MINIFIGURES: 4
  • RELEASE DATE: March 1, 2022
  • COST/BRICK: $0.13 (average value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 127 bricks/fig (great value)
  • DIMENSIONS: 26cm high x 20cm wide x 10cm deep

This latest castle extension brings us the Hospital Wing from The Prisoner of Azkaban. And let’s face it, the magical world is absurdly dangerous – you will need a well-equipped medical ward. This set features the same modular design as the 20th Anniversary sets and will easily fit in with the rest of the builds. The upper floor has the large clock face that features moving hands for when you need to activate that super-handy Time Turner. Harry, Ron and Hermione feature updated ‘dirtied’ torso prints. Ron even gets a cast thanks to a white minifig leg – pretty clever! The bigger draw is our first ever minifigure of Madam Pomfrey. She has a great torso/skirt print and a really nice hair/hat mold. I’m always happy to get new figs to fill out the cast.

The Magic Continues

It may be a small assortment for the Spring, but these are some decent sets. The Moments Books have lots of fun features and great play value. They also make nice display pieces thanks to a nice consistent design. And the minifigure selection has been fairly strong, especially the teachers. The newest castle addition is also lovely. This is the first time the hospital room has been made into a set. I always enjoy seeing brand new settings and characters, like Madam Pomfrey. Her first name is Poppy by the way. I had no clue.

What do you guys think of the upcoming sets? Are you a fan of the Moments Books? Are you excited for more great minifigures? What other exciting locations you would like to see made into sets? Send an owl with your amazing comments to let us know. And as always, keep on brickin’. 🧱
