It is Minifigure Monday! Each week we celebrate a different LEGO® character through art. For the next few weeks, I am photographing my way through Minifigures Series 21. Simultaneously, I am opening each package on video to give you a feel guide in case you are still on the lookout for a particular figurine. Last week, we looked at the Ancient Warrior. This entry marks week two and we take a look at the Series 21 Cabaret Singer.
- NAME: Cabaret Singer
- SET #: 71029
- THEME: Collectible Minifigure Series 21
- COST: $4.99 CAD
- BRICK COUNT: 13
The Cabaret Singer is easy to identify because the blind bag has a second bag inside. You can feel the extra thickness of the second bag. That setup usually comes when the blind bag contains a piece of cloth. Additionally, the singer’s hairpiece is immediately recognizable by the fanned feather mold. However, the first items I felt in the bag were the rod (microphone stand) and the microphone accessory. Remember to always identify at least two items in the blind bag before settling on which character is in the packet.
For Cabaret Singer photoshoot, I opted for a simple stage set-up. I have a light box for taking pictures that came with several different color backdrops. In this case, I used the black one. The stage was an IKEA BYGGLEK storage box from their collaboration with the LEGO® Group. I love these boxes for photography. I can easily prop Minifigures up on them or build up scenes. Additionally, because they elevate characters, I can take low angle shots more easily. I placed one of my photography lamps outside the lightbox, but behind the minifig to get some backlighting. I let ambient light enter the box to illuminate her face. The spotlight in the background was my cell phone propped up against a second, smaller BYYGLEK box. Finally, I brightened the light, enhanced the colors, and reduced the noise in PaintShop Pro.
So concludes my Series 21 Cabaret Singer unbagging. Be sure to check back next week for the next installment. As always, feel free to comment below or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
