Jurassic World Rebirth is now in theatres. The film takes place in the same world as the previous movies, only at a different location with a different group of people. As with previous Jurassic instalments over the last 10 years, the LEGO® Group dropped several new sets to support the film. There are new Minifigures and new dinosaur species. However, something is wrong with this collection. What’s wrong with the LEGO® Jurassic World Rebirth sets? Read on.

The Jurassic World Rebirth sets:

  • NAME: Baby Dinosaur Dolores: Aquilops
  • SET #: 76970
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $29.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 339
  • MINIFIGURES: None
  • DINOSAURS: 1 (brick built)
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.088 (great value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: N/A

The aquilops is a cute design, but I have no interest in it. I am not a big fan of brick-built animal sets. I’ve enjoyed the occasional kit, like the Majestic Tiger, but that was more because I feel a specific affinity towards tigers. With a huge discount, I might buy this kit for parts.

  • NAME: Raptor Off-Road Escape
  • SET #: 76972
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $44.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 285
  • MINIFIGURES: 2
  • DINOSAURS: 2
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.157 (okay value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: 95 (great fig count)

The Raptor Off-Road Escape includes a new raptor mold. I like the colour scheme and the scale is more accurate. Otherwise this figurine is a downgrade from the larger velociraptor of past waves. Similar to the newer dilophosaurus and atrociraptor, this new model has almost no articulation. Only the jaw moves. I don’t see why the LEGO® Group doesn’t articulate these smaller dinosaurs.

  • NAME: Raptor & Titanosaurus Tracking Mission
  • SET #: 76973
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $129.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 582
  • MINIFIGURES: 3
  • DINOSAURS: 2
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.223 (poor value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: 116 (good fig count)

Here we see a corner store build based on a scene from the trailers. The titanosaurus is not associated with those trailer scenes… but I have not seen the actual film yet, so who knows. We see the same new raptor again, but the show stopper is the titanosaurus. It is a new species for LEGO®. The body appears to reuse the brachiosaurus form. However, the tail and head element are different, as is the printing. I want a few of these kits just to build a small herd. Hopefully it goes on sale…

What's wrong with the LEGO® Jurassic world sets? No landscapes for one...

  • NAME: Brick-Built Mosasaurus Boat Mission
  • SET #: 76974
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $79.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 858
  • MINIFIGURES: 2
  • DINOSAURS: 1 (brick-built)
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.093 (amazing value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: 429 (poor fig count)

I am on the fence about this particular set. I am thrilled we get a mosasaurus. However, I like my dinosaur figurines. I think a better choice might have been to go with this same brick-built body, but give it a molded head that better resembles the movie.

I wish this set was different as well. The boat looks crappy. In the trailers, the mosasaurus attacks two different boats, one being a sailboat. I wish the mosasaurus came with the sailboat instead. Or better yet, the mosasaurus should be a set all on its own. These side builds don’t add anything to the set. As for why I’d rather see a sailboat here, read on…

  • NAME: T. rex River Escape
  • SET #: 76975
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $64.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 199
  • MINIFIGURES: 2
  • DINOSAURS: 1
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.327 (poor value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: 66 (great fig count)

I suppose a Jurassic World wave would not be complete without a T. rex set. This is also one of the cheapest T. rex sets the LEGO® Group has ever put out. While the printing is unique, it is also reminiscent of past T. rex figurines. Additionally, the build is basic. As if all that was not enough, the set is the worst value in this wave. This set will need to be on hardcore liquidation before I think about picking it up.

  • NAME: Spinosaurus & Quetzalcoatlus Air Mission
  • SET #: 76976
  • THEME: Jurassic World
  • COST: $199.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 984
  • MINIFIGURES: 4
  • DINOSAURS: 2
  • RELEASE DATE: June 1, 2025
  • $/BRICK: $0.203 (poor value)
  • BRICKS/FIG: 164 (good fig count)

This set has me the most excited. I’ve been dreaming about a LEGO® Spinosaurus for a long time. I even purchased a Chinese knock-off and painted it to look like the spinosaurus from Jurassic Park 3 (find out more). I wish the spinosaurus came in a different set though. Again, I have not see the movie at this point. But the trailers show several spinosaurs attacking a boat. The spinosaurus should come with the boat, not with the quetzelcoatlus. This build appears to recreate the quetzelcoatlus cliff scene. As far as I know, there are no spinosaurs on climbing the cliffs.

What's wrong with the LEGO Jurassic World Rebirth sets? Spinosaurs don't climb cliffs.

The vehicles in this set look bad as well. The ground vehicle looks like a rehash of the Carnotaurus Dinosaur Chase set. The helicopter looks like something from the City theme. I have never understood why the LEGO® Group insists on compromising the detail of their main builds to include useless vehicles that all look the same. If you want a helicopter in the theme, make a good helicopter set.

Where is the rest?

Is it just me or are there some major exclusions in this wave? The two main villains are no where to be seen! Jurassic World Rebirth features two lab creations, the Distortus rex and the mutadon. Both would require new molds, which might be why we don’t get them. I’m disappointed though. They feature in almost all the trailers, suggesting both creations play a big role in the film. They should feature in the LEGO® sets too.

What's wrong with the LEGO® Jurassic World Rebirth sets? No Distortus rex.

Interestingly, you might have noticed there is no set 76971… While numbering gaps are not unheard of in LEGO® lineups, it is also possible we have not seen all the sets yet. Set numbers are not always released sequentially… and occasionally, some set numbers are not released at all. But, I will hope the Distortus rex and mutadon are still coming.

When all is said and done…

I will still buy most of these sets. I love Jurassic Park/World. I love the LEGO® Dinosaur figurines. The sets can be total crap (and often are), but I will still collect the dinosaurs. Experience has taught me that those dinosaurs tend to get expensive once the sets retire. Better to get the extra bricks for other projects with the dinosaurs while they are still on store shelves. Stay tuned, I’ll do set specific reviews in the coming weeks. What do you think of the 2025 LEGO® Jurassic World sets? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,

-Tom
