I made a Pick-A-Brick order during the double points event last October. Half the elements came from the best seller list, and they arrived promptly. The other half was from the standard list and got stuck in the Canada Post strike. That part of my order took until January to arrive… 12 weeks later. But, as soon as it arrived, I got to playing. I made this week’s Minifigure Monday character, the Viking Wanderer whom I named Stieg.

The Viking Wanderer

Stieg’s hair is the same element I used for my Viking Merchant. It came from one of my Monkie Kid Spider Huntsman minifigs. I listed all the sets where you can find that hairpiece in the Viking Merchant post. I ordered the black version of this hairpiece in my October Pick-A-Brick purchase. However, I opted to use the grey one I already had because the head element I used for the Viking Wanderer has a grey beard.

Stieg the Viking Wanderer

Without knowing, I ordered a head from PAB that I already owned…

The head was a new element for 2024. Presently, it only appears in one set, the Space Base and Rocket Launch Pad (60434). Interestingly, I only found this out after I ordered the piece and started writing this article. That set sits unopened in my pile of shame… I guess I have two of those heads now.

The torso comes in two different sets: the Viking Village and the Viking Ship. I order another from Pick-A-Brick because it is an amazing print for any Medieval build. The legs come in 14 different sets. I took mine from the A-Frame Cabin. The part comes in:

  • 21338 – A-Frame Cabin
  • 71741 – Ninjago City Gardens
  • 75252 – UCS Star Destoryer
  • 75313 – UCS AT-AT
  • 75367 – UCS Venator
  • 76035 – Jokerland
  • 76045 – Kryptonite Interception
  • 76046 – Heroes of Justice
  • 76171 – Miles Morales Mech
  • 76178 – Daily Bugle
  • 910029 – Mountain Fortress
  • 910033 – Old Train Engine Shed
  • 682303 – Miles Morales
  • 853687 – Elemental Masters
Stieg

Though the LEGO® Group makes a similar cape, mine is not official.

The cape is not official LEGO® issue. It is one of the few items I was able to salvage from my recent AliExpress debacle. With that said, the LEGO® Group has also made a cape like this. It appeared in 15 sets.

  • 40693 – Fell Beast
  • 70352 – Jestro’s Headquarters
  • 70356 – The Stone Colossus of Ultimate Destruction
  • 70676 – Lloyd’s Titan Mech
  • 70678 – Castle of the Forsaken Emperor
  • 71783 – Kai’s Mech Rider
  • 71785 – Jay’s Titan Mech
  • 71786 – Zane’s Ice Dragon
  • 75955 – Hogwarts Express
  • 76403 – Ministry of Magic
  • 76945 – Expecto Patronum
  • 76103 – Corvus Glaive Thresher Attack
  • 76405 – Hogwarts Express
  • 112402 – Zane Vs Bone King
Stieg the Viking Wanderer

One of my favourite elements in my PAB order was the shoulder armour. This piece is available in six different colours, but I only ordered the light bluish grey version to test it out and see if I like it. This particular colour comes in the Ninjago Wolf Mask Shadow Dojo (71813) set. The back can hold two katanas. Most other LEGO® swords are too wide to fit. However, the Harry Potter Godric Gryffindor sword fits, which helped shape Stieg’s story.

Of royal blood…

Stieg the Viking Wanderer is the older brother of my Torben the Viking King character. I decided on this relationship because they both have the same kingly sword. As the elder, Stieg should have been king, but abdicated… or perhaps he was exiled for a crime. I have not decided yet. In any case, Stieg now roams the wilderness, only periodically showing up in civilization.

I really like how Stieg turned out. The scar print on the face, the armour, and the worn out cape give him a really rugged look. I did not set out making him as Torben’s brother, but it seemed a natural path to take given they have identical swords. Plus, no other characters in my story will have that particular weapon since I only own two of the Griffindor swords. What do you think? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,

-Tom
