Bricktober is on my radar every year as an important event to the Canadian AFOL community. Once upon a time, it was one of the choice LEGO® shopping events of the year as it offered exclusive Minifigure packs with qualifying purchases. When Toys R Us went under in the United States, Bricktober limped on in Canadian stores without much appeal. Things shifted two years ago with the Adventure Ride series that featured exclusive builds and some primo packaging. Last year, I didn’t like the Mini build series quite as much, but it was better than a kick in the pants. This year, you ask? Sadly, Bricktober 2024 is a bust in my books. Let’s take a look at their offerings anyway so you can decide for yourself.

Bricktober Savings Card
Earn a $10 savings card for every $50 CAD that you spend on LEGO® products from October 1 – 31, 2024. Sadly, it can only be used on regularly priced items during November 2024. You can’t use it on sale items, like during Black Friday. You can only use one card per transaction as well, so you can’t earn several of these and then use them all at the same time for a free set.

Minecraft Panda Make-and-Take
This event takes place October 5, 2024 in stores only. You should call your local store to check if it is happening. Additionally, ask if adults are welcome to participate, because often they are not. The event could potentially be enjoyable for your kids though.

Friends Friendship Bracelet
It might interest some to know this bracelet is free in store from October 12 – 13, 2024. I don’t even think you have to buy anything… But there are no LEGO® bricks included by the look of it.

LEGO® Tote Bag
This is arguably the most interesting Bricktober 2024 offering… which doesn’t say a lot. Spending $30 CAD or more on LEGO® sets in store earns you this bag from October 17 – 23, 2024. Of course, I have tote bags coming out the wazoo in this day and age… a couple of them are even LEGO® brand.

Micro Holiday Train Make-and-Take
How is this a Holiday Train? I see more “random-assemblage-of-leftover-bricks” than holidays here… You (or rather your kids) can build one in store on October 26, 2024 if it interests you. They are free bricks…
Now onto what we are not getting… Toys R Us in Asia is offering a “Brick Bites” lineup featuring little snack stands that look adorable. These qualify right up there with the 2022 Adventure Rides in my book. I might have actually bought something to get these…
While it is possible that Brick Bites will be available in North America at a later date (there are unsubstantiated rumours circulating of a possibility), I was certainly hoping they’d pop up in Canada for Bricktober at Toys R Us. It is worth noting that in 2022, only two Adventure Rides arrived during Bricktober, the rest followed as specials during pre-Christmas sales. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the Brick Bites arrive in Canada soon. What do you think? Let me know in the comments or reach out on Social Media.
Until next time,
-Tom

Ugh. Hard pass on Toys R Us this year. Two years ago, I was carefully planning my purchases so that I could get those adventure rides.
“Boba Bro”? I want THAT!
I was the same two years ago. I skipped it mostly last year… I took advantage of one of the sales, but I didn’t care much for the GWPs. This year, unless there’s a good sale… Like an actual sale, not just one that makes the set the same price as the Lego store… I’m probably not shopping at Toys R Us.
Definitely unfortunate. Much of my lego buying is determined by gwp or sales, like many others. Not only that, but these $10 cards aren’t enticing if they can’t be used on sale items since Toys R Us regularly marks up the MSRP, sometimes 10% or higher. So you’re better of getting a sale from Amazon or even Lego directly.
Very true!
As stated, nothing interesting offered by Toys’R’Us during this year’s Bricktober event.
Last year’s Bricktober offerings weren’t overly exciting in my opinion.
I must say that I like the images of the Asian Toys’R’Us “Brick Bites”.
They look awesome and very collectible.
I do hope that the COMPLETE set comes to Canada.
Tom, thank you for passing along the latest information.
Cheers. Cobra64
Agreed, brick bites are super collectable. Maybe we’ll get lucky.
Pretty pathetic offerings. Although, considering how much I’ve spent on Lego already this year, that might be just as well.
I’ve been feeling that way about a lot of GWPs recently, not just this TRU debacle. So, I feel you 100%!
