A handful of summer 2024 LEGO® Jurassic World sets popped up on the official LEGO® website today. I’m stoked. Long-time readers know that I am a huge fan of the Jurassic franchise and I love LEGO® dinosaur figurines. While we are not getting a lot of sets this summer, two of the three offer up new species to bolster my collection. This summer, we are getting a stegosaurus and an allosaurus.

As one might expect, apart from the Baby Bumpy set, these sets are not a great value. Both come in at about $0.20/brick when I usually expect the average LEGO® set to be around $0.14/brick. However, Jurassic World sets are always a poor value compared to other LEGO® themes. I suspect they owe that to licensing fees and large, unique dinosaur parts that are not used in any other theme. As a dinosaur fan, you can bet I will get both the allosaurus and the stegosaurus. In fact, I will probably end up with multiple stegosaurus sets. I’m not super keen on the bumpy set though.

The stegosaurus set includes Minifigures of Ben and Sammy. Meanwhile, the allosaurus kit comes with Darius, Yaz, and Kenji. Fans of the franchise know these are all characters from Camp Cretaceous and the upcoming Chaos Theory shows on Netflix. Given the absence of Brooklyn and the new clothing prints, we can assume these sets focus on Chaos Theory. The allosaurus also appears in advertising for Chaos Theory. Baby Bumpy on the other hand hails purely from early seasons of Camp Cretaceous.

It’s just a shame that these figurines only hit store shelves in August… I’m also a little bummed the stego set is not Lost World themed. But Chaos Theory does make more sense. Otherwise, the builds have a bit of a been-there-done-that feel to them. We’ll have to wait and see if these sets represent anything in the show… but I don’t need more dinosaur transport trucks. The theme needs a breath of fresh air, I think. New dinosaur species certainly help though. What are your thoughts on the summer 2024 LEGO® Jurassic World offerings?
