The LEGO® Group released official Viking Village pics following last week’s leak from a French retailer. I normally don’t cover leaks, but I am so excited about this set that I threw the low-res pics into an article as soon as I could. In typical fashion, the LEGO® Group seems to be playing catch-up with their own product reveals. There is usually a lot more fanfare involved with the reveal of an Ideas set. Instead, the day after everyone had already seen images of the set, it quietly popped up on LEGO.com and social media campaign began. I might be reading too much into this… but it seems to me this was a complete leak. In any case, it matters not. If you have not already seen them, here are the hi-res images of the upcoming Viking Village along with the updated stats.

I remain as excited as ever about this set. I don’t see too many obviously new build techniques. However, I like the use of ferns to make a new style of conifer. It’s really neat that this set includes white ferns for that snow-covered look. I will note that the interior spaces in this set seem quite small… but if you aim to build a larger Viking village, this is a nice starter set. The exterior detailing looks great. Additionally, the set is a surprisingly good value $0.08/brick. You don’t get many Minifigures, but the have some new prints.

This news has already been all over the internet… but hopefully these official Viking Village pics were news to some of you. If you have not already, let me know what you think of the set in the comments below or on social media. I will certainly pick this set up, but I don’t know if it will be a day one purchase… I don’t typically do day one shopping. Having a stocked wish list in case a great GWP pops up is always a good idea. But I will eventually get it and share my review. It’ll look great with my unbuilt Creator 3-in-1 Viking Ship 😉
Until next time,
-Tom
