The LEGO® Movie 2 Release
Today was the day! The LEGO® Movie 2 was released on home video. Call me old fashioned, but there are still some movies that I like to own as a physical copy. I am even more likely to pick it up if it comes with a gift. So, when I initially started to think about my purchase of the LEGO® Movie 2, my first instinct was to look up where to get it with the best possible freebie. I was bitterly disappointed. No online retailer in Canada was advertising the movie with any giveaways. In fact, a quick check today revealed the same. But, it turned out that was not entirely the case.
As luck would have it, I actually scored the movie a little early. I was at Walmart on the weekend, and for some reason the movie was already out on the floor. Not only that, Walmart has an exclusive edition of the film that includes the “Emmet’s Piece Offering” polybag inside of the box! You have to pay a little more for it, but I am a sucker for things like that. Buying this special edition will set you back $28.96, whereas buying it without the polybag is $24.96. Since a polybag normally retails for about $4.99, you are not actually getting anything for free, but you do save $1 compared to buying the movie and polybag separately. As far as I know, this is the only promo going on with the release of the movie in Canada (feel free to comment below if you know of another). I also did not see this Walmart exclusive available online.
Have I watched the movie already? You betcha. I also liked it even more the second time around. The film comes with a sing-along/play-along version that I have not watched through yet, but it looks interesting enough that I will give it a spin eventually.
Until next time,
