The First 2024 Jurassic World Sets Revealed

The first 2024 Jurassic World sets have been revealed online. The news broke a few days ago through a German online retailer. However, the LEGO® Group has now posted images of one of the sets on their official site as well. Interestingly, the set posted by the LEGO® Group suggests a new direction for the theme that might appeal to AFOLs a little more than the standard sets. The kit in question is “DInosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull”.

First 2024 Jurassic World sets revealed: T. rex Skull

What interests me most about this set is the fact that the set title starts with “Dinosaur Fossils”. To me, this suggests the T. rex skull is only the first in a series. I love the LEGO® Jurassic sets, but mostly for the Minifigures and dinosaur figurines. The builds in this theme are kind of basic and generally uninteresting. Of couse, there are excpetions. I’ve loved sets like T. Rex Rampage and the recent Jurassic Park 30th anniversary collection. This potential new line of fossil builds might make the Jurassic theme more appealing to a wider range of AFOLs.

The other set revealed by JB Spielwaren in Germany is likely of less interest to AFOLs. It is a 4+ set featuring characters from the Netflix series, Camp Cretaceous. As a huge Jurassic fan, the set appeals to me on a Minifigure and dinosaur level. The kit includes four baby dinosaur figurines and a pteranodon. While I do not need another pteranodon, the other dinosaurs look great. All came in previous sets, but we do see some new colour variations here. Additionally, this is the second set to feature the Beta figurine. As I write this, Baby Dinosaur Rescue Center is not up on the official LEGO® site yet. However, JB Spielwaren advertises the price as identical to the T. rex Skull in Euros. Consequently, I’ll assume it is the same price in Canada too.

I’ll certainly be interested to see if this Dinosaur Fossils series takes off. I will also probably pick up this T. rex Skull at some point just out of curiosity. What do you think of the first 2024 Jurassic World sets? What fossil sets would you like to see? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.

Until next time,
