As part of my bedtime routine, I counter-productively spend an inordinate amount of time on my cell phone or iPad. I am fully aware of how this is not good for me. This is a case of do as I say and not as I do to the younger readers out there. However, this process often yields LEGO® content I can report on… in this case, I happened upon an interesting poster while basking in the glow of my device. It seems the Peacock streaming service will release an “unofficial” LEGO® Jurassic Park retelling in the near future.

Anyone else want that Ian Malcolm minifig?
As a huge fan of Jurassic Park and a LEGO® dinosaur collector, I am thrilled with this news. On Instagram, Peacock branded it “an animated special 65 million bricks in the making.” The poster features an elderly Ian Malcolm. He is reminiscent of his Jurassic World Dominion minifig from the Pyroraptor and Dilophosaurus Transport set. However, this Malcolm sports a bathrobe. While this is pure speculation, I think a present-day Ian Malcolm will recount the events of the original Jurassic Park in this film from the comfort of his own home.
Presently, actual details on the project remain scant. Peacock only revealed the teaser poster and a runtime of 22 minutes. The LEGO® Jurassic Park retelling will air only on the Peacock streaming service. Short of using a VPN, Peacock is not available in Canada. Whether or not the special will air elsewhere in the True North Strong and Free remains to be seen.
While calling the production “unofficial”, the branding shows a clear affiliation with the LEGO® Group and Jurassic World/Amblin Entertainment. Of course, being a LEGO® film, it remains undoubtedly unofficial in the sense that it will probably not be part of Jurassic Park/World canon. One thing is for certain though… we need that Ian Malcolm in his bathrobe as an official Minifigure. Are you looking forward to the unofficial retelling of Jurassic Park? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom
