We now have official images of LEGO® Minifigures Marvel (Series 2). Rumors of the new lineup have circulated for some time, but now the product is viewable on the official Canadian website. As expected, this is the first Minifigures series to do away with the classic blind bag. Instead, every character now comes in a more environmentally friendly cardboard box. While this move is inline with the LEGO® Group’s long announced plans to do away with single use plastic packaging, it has the flipside effect of hurting collectors. Gone are the days of feeling packages. Additionally, gone are feel guides which have traditionally been hugely popular articles here at True North Bricks.
Similar to Series 1 from 2021, LEGO® Minifigures Marvel (Series 2) includes 12 collectible characters. As usual, each minifig costs $5.99 CAD, and the official release date is September 1, 2023. The characters in this series include:
- Agatha Harkness
- Kate Bishop
- Hawkeye
- Moon Knight
- Mr. Knight
- She-Hulk
- The Werewolf
- Goliath
- Storm
- Beast
- Wolverine
- Echo
This wave contains some neat characters, as well as a few obscure ones (in my opinion). Additionally, I am intrigued by the new owl figurine, which appears smaller than previous owls we’ve seen. I love the Moon Knight minifig, even though I did not watch the series. The detailing is amazing. Conversely, I grew up on the X-Men animated series in the ’90s. Consequently, those characters are always welcome. But blind boxes? Those are a major killjoy for me. Feeling up bags was part of the whole Minifigure experience.
