Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures Series
The Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures are coming on September 1, 2021. News of a new Minifigures Series is always exciting. Incidentally, True North Bricks covered this particular reveal a little while back. However, we can now take it a step farther because the LEGO® Group sent us a full box of the characters ahead of their release. You can catch the unboxing in the YouTube video below.
NOTE: The LEGO® Group provided these Minifigures for review. However, the provision of products does not guarantee a favorable review. We will use the usual rating system (click here for more information) and provide an honest opinion.
- NAME: Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures
- SET #: 71031
- COST: $4.99 CAD each/$59.88 CAD for a whole set
- MINIFIGURES: 12 unique characters
- RELEASE DATE: September 1, 2021
There are 12 Minifigures to collect in this series, each consisting of all the standard parts. The current slate of Disney+ shows inspired these characters. Consequently, you can find looks from What If..?, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and Wandavision. While some of the characters appear in sets, the variant is unique in each case. The roster includes:
- Scarlet Witch
- White Vision
- Monica Rambeau
- The Falcon as Captain America
- Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
- T’Challa as Star Lord
- Zombie Captain America
- Captain Carter
- Zombie Hunter Spider-Man
- Gamora as Thanos
These characters feature a lot of fun, new printing. All of them have front and back torso designs. Additionally, several have double-sided head printing, arm printing, and 10 have leg print. I am thrilled with the new hairpieces seen on Monica and Captain Carter. On top of that, there are great new accessories… and a lot of shields. Usually a round shield is a great character identifier, but not this time around. Four characters have them. As an animal lover, one of the more exciting new accessories for me is the baby alligator. Throg is a new mold as well, and I quite like Vision’s computer.
Unique characters, new hairpieces and accessories, what more could you ask?
While I have always been a bigger fan of DC Comics than Marvel (not that I dislike Marvel at all), I daresay I like the Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures more than the earlier DC Comics wave. These characters have coherence the DC line lacked. Each of these characters features in a current TV show that interconnects with the others through a shared universe. Additionally, they are relevant in the now. The DC line featured a mashup of characters pulled from the pages of comic books many people have not read, or have not read recently. Now that I see this Marvel lineup, I find myself wishing the DC series featured the Arrowverse characters. The Marvel LEGO® sets are really kicking butt this year. First the epic Daily Bugle, now an amazing Minifigures Series.
I am so thrilled to have a whole box of these characters. So, an extra special thanks to the LEGO® Group for sending them my way. It was amazing to feel through the packets calmly at home as opposed to in a store. The box also contains three full sets of randomly distributed figurines. Additionally, these Minifigures are a super detailed and excellent selection of characters. Incidentally, I have a feel guide for this series in the works. Be sure to check back soon for more character specific photos, videos, and identifying characteristics to look for as the hunt for minifigs beings on September 1. What are your thoughts on the Marvel Studios Collectible Minifigures? Will you collect them all? I would love to hear them in the comments below or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
