They recreated everything from the classic 1989 set in stunning detail, from a brick-built recreation of the raised baseplate right down to the iconic yellow box. Of course, this set is a recreation of Eldorado Fortress (6276) from 1989, along with the boat from Imperial Trading Post (6277). The cost/brick is pretty good compared to LEGO® sets in general, and you get a good number of Minifigures for an Icons set. However, Icons sets tend to come with lower minifig counts than LEGO® sets in general based on set size. The new Eldorado is also modular. The images indicate you can display it with the classic look of the set, or expanded out.
Eldorado was one of the sets I dreamed of owning as a child. However, I never had one. I’ve often thought about acquiring it as an adult from the secondary market, but the prices for the set are quite high. I’m very excited to see this set refreshed and heading out to store shelves again. Pirates of Barracuda Bay from a few years ago remains one of my all-time favorite sets, and now I’ll be able to get the Eldorado Fortress to display next to it.
