Minifigure Monday is a series that I’ve run on and off at True North Bricks since the early days of the blog. It has always celebrated the amazing Minifigure, but has taken a variety of different forms over the years. I’ve shared coloring pages, minifig inspired poetry, photography, and original characters. The column has been on hiatus for a while, but the time has come to pull it from hibernation. For the next while, Minfigure Monday will focus on some of my favorite characters from over the years. Since we’re coming out of hibernation, where better to start than the Yeti!

The LEGO® Group released the Yeti in 2013 as part of Minifigures Series 11. Much like its namesake, the character remains elusive. The prints and head molds have never appeared again in these specific colors. However, the head mold surfaced in brown for the Big Foot minifig in Series 14. The specific shade of trans-medium blue used for the popsicle that originally came the Yeti is also unique to the character.

I love Minifigures that break the mold, so to speak. I also love fantasy characters. The Yeti checks both of those boxes with a unique headpiece and cryptozoological take on the classic Minifigure. Unfortunately, this character came out during my dark ages. Consequently, I bought mine on the after-market and it did not include the original popsicle. Hence, the image above shows the more common trans-dark blue variant that has appeared in nine sets to date. Regardless, the Yeti remains one of my all time favorite Minifigures.

I think the Yeti is one of the cutest Minifigures every made. It’s a fun twist on the Minifigure, and it features some interesting and rare parts. How does it rank in terms of your favorite Minifigures? Let me know in the comments below or reach out on social media. Be sure to check back next week because I will be sharing another one of my favorite Minifigures.
Until next time,
-Tom
