This morning, the LEGO® Group announced the latest set coming from the Art theme. The Great Wave set was revealed officially this morning after months of online speculation. It joins the growing list of January 2023 releases. The set is based on the classic Japanese woodblock print created by Katsushika Hokusai in the 1830s. Unlike most other Art sets, the Great Wave offers a more three-dimensional build. Additionally, the set employs more varied bricks than the typical 1×1 round plates and tiles typically seen in the theme.

I was a big fan of the LEGO® Ideas Starry Night set. Additionally, I find the building process for Art sets relaxing. Consequently, I’m quite looking forward to this set. It still employs some typical Art-theme elements while also delving into a bit more texture like Starry Night. As luck would have it, the LEGO® Group offered me a pre-release copy for review! Be sure to check back soon for my thoughts on this recreation of iconic Japanese art. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Reach out in the comments below or on social media.
Until next time,
