The reveals have been coming fast and furious since last week. In one case literally The Fast and The Furious haha. But for right now let’s take a look at the upcoming line-up of Monkie Kid 2023 sets. A total of 5 sets are coming out on January 1st. We will see 2 Mechs, 1 vehicle, 1 location and, wildest of all, 1 elephant. I have not kept up with the Monkie Kid lore or theme aside from the general set details. And only then because that’s my job! But I will say the sets never cease to impress me. A LOT of detail and attention is clearly going into this theme. And not just the sets, the minifigures as well. Mechs For All!
The Monkie Kid 2023 sets offer some neat options for fans of the theme and collectors in general. I for one love the Yellow Tusk Elephant. If they can do that, they can make a similar creation for the Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West elephant on Playstation. Think how awesome that will look after the superbly done Tallneck (76989)? The combination of the two smaller sets into one is a nice feature. I appreciate getting a little bit more out of my sets for not too much more money. But the coolest set is easily the Monkie King Ultra Mech (80045). It’s quite the upgrade on 2020’s Monkie King Warrior Mech (80012) – which was already an awesome set. Mechs aren’t my immediate go-to, but I think this one’s going on the wish list. Why is every Mech hitting harder than the UCS Hulkbuster (76210)? Just sayin’…..
