It is Minifigure Monday! We are now two thirds of the way through my Star Trek Voyager series. The ninth entry is my Kes fantasy Minifigure. Kes appears in Voyager’s pilot episode as the crew lands on the Ocampa homeworld. The Ocampa live underground while the surface harbors their enemies, the Kazon. When we first meet Kes, she is a prisoner of the latter. Truth be told, Kes was not one of my favorite characters. I never found her childlike quality believable or endearing. However, she was a main character for three seasons. The character returned for two episodes of season four, and one in season six. Consequently, Kes has earned her place in my Voyager Fantasy Minifigure Series.
For my illustration, I imagined using a hairpiece with elf ears for Kes. Her ears were not quite elven in the show, but they were pointed. Additionally, I drew a take on her hair from the earlier seasons. I was not a fan of the character’s longer, wavy hair later on. Even so, I did not stick to the show look and took some creative license. The hairpiece I drew inspiration from appeared in the retired LEGO® Elves theme. The original piece had a ponytail which I left off in my rendition. Finally, I imagined the minifig with a cloth piece attached at the waist to complete the look.
I took inspiration from an Elves theme hairpiece for Kes.
Playmates produced one Kes action figure. She appeared in the first wave of Star Trek Voyager action figures in 1995. As with all characters in the lineup, she included a trading card and a display base. Additionally, Kes came with a medical tricorder, PADD, desktop monitor, and biological scanner. This is the only Kes collectible I own. Of all the characters in my Voyager series, I have not met two. Kes is one of those. Thus, I do not have an autograph to share this week.
We’re in the home stretch now. Only three characters remain in my Star Trek Voyager Fantasy Minifigure Series. At this point, we move on from the pilot episode. The final three reveals hail from other episodes. The next character shows up in season one and later goes through a change. Do you know who it is? As always, let me know what you think in the comments below or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
