Third 2021 Ideas Review Results

The Third 2021 Ideas Review results are in. Another whopping selection of submissions made it to 10,000 votes to advance into the review stage. In this case, 36 projects caught the eye of fans around the word in the hopes of becoming an official set.

The 36 submissions as seen on the LEGO®️ Ideas website.

There were some pretty great designs in this round, but sadly only ONE will be making it to store shelves. It’s a bit of a bummer but at this point we’re seeing 1 or 2 winners per round among record setting numbers. So depending on your expectations you’re either thrilled or totally disappointed. And that winning project iiiss….

HOCUS POCUS – THE SANDERSON SISTERS’ COTTAGE – UPDATED

Dust off your brooms my friends and get ready for a little nostalgic, family-friendly Magic. Hocus Pocus is a Disney film that released in 1993. In it siblings accidentally revive a trio of witches on Halloween night. Cue the fun and slapstick and you’ve got a classic comedy. I’m a fan and often watch the film at Halloween. It’s cutesy fun and the characters are fairly iconic at this point.

Here’s the official statement from The LEGO®️ Group Ideas team:

A huge congratulations to our first Belgian Fan Designer Amber Veyt (aka TheAmbrinator) for making her dream a reality and showing that perseverance can pay off – after her original submission in 2020 was not approved. Amber’s deep passion for the much-loved Hocus Pocus movie shows in her design, which encapsulates all the little details and characters that really wowed the review board. We believe that it hits a sweet spot for Halloween movies for families, with iconic characters and a location that we really wanted to recreate using LEGO bricks.

Kudos to Amber Veyt for getting her design through. It’s pretty rare to get a second chance at 10,000 votes, let alone get the winning submission. For more photos and information on this entry, check out the Ideas website. It’s definitely not too surprising given past winners and the recently announced sequel heading into theatres this Halloween.

Still lots on the way

The LEGO® Ideas sets are currently riding high with some fantastic builds. The latest of these are the totally gorgeous The Starry Night (21333) from the Second 2020 Review and the totally awesome Jazz Quartet (21334) from the First 2021 Review. We’re just past the midway point of the year and a few sets are still in the pipeline from previous rounds. These include The Motorized Lighthouse, The Office and Foosball Table. The most recent winning submissions from the Second 2021 Review Results are the A-Frame Cabin and BTS’s Dynamite.

I wish we could have gotten at least one more winner in the Third 2021 Ideas results but I have no doubt this will prove popular. But what do you think? Are you happy with the results? Are you a big fan of the Hocus Pocus film? What other sets would you have liked to see make it through? Comment below and let us know your thoughts. Thanks for reading and as always, keep on brickin’. 🧱
