LEGO® has revealed the latest LEGO® Brand Store set (40574). Check out the unboxing video here! We have seen various versions of LEGO® Store sets over the years. Most recently, the microscale LEGO® Brand Retail Store promotional set (40528) was revealed. While the latter is only being released at the opening of new stores, the new LEGO® Brand Store set will be available at LEGO® Stores across Canada and LEGO.com. Like many of you, I live in a mid size Canadian city that will never get a LEGO® Store. Consequently, this means store opening promotional sets are out of reach. Additionally, I live on Vancouver Island where we don’t have the population to support a LEGO® Store, so I am always grateful when sets like this are made available on LEGO.com!

Packed with details!
The new LEGO® Brand Store set is a nice little minifigure scale model with 541 pieces and lots of great detail. It is most similar to the LEGO® Brand Retail Store set (40305) released in 2018. While the exterior of the new set may not be as appealing (in my opinion), I do appreciate all the detail they have packed into the interior. The new set includes the ubiquitous pick-a-brick wall, a brick pit, and lots of LEGO® set boxes. It also includes an awesome safari photo stand, which I missed in the unboxing. In addition, there is a buildable cash register and a couple of microscale models representing some iconic themes – train and castle! This set also comes with two minifigures to create some great play experiences. I do wish the minifigures were a little more interesting. However, I can never have enough generic minifigures for my MOC scenes.

The new LEGO® Brand Store set looks like a nice little set with excellent value at $0.09 CAD per piece. I love that the lower floor opens up to reveal the nicely detailed interior. However, it would have been nice to have one more minifigure – a LEGO Store employee. Interestingly, the 2018 LEGO Store set was also missing a LEGO Store employee. You could always use the minifigure employee from the Iconic VIP set (40178). The VIP set was a promotional back in 2017 but later appeared as a reward item on the VIP Rewards centre on LEGO.com. Overall, the new LEGO® Brand Store set looks like a great addition to any LEGO collection. Tell us why this set is or is not on your list! Share your thoughts below or on our social media. We love to hear from you!
Play well folks,
-Krista (she/her)
