Fall 2021 Spider-Man Sets

Fall 2021 Spider-Man Sets

Spider-Man swings back into action this Fall 2021 with three new sets based on the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home film. Set to hit theatres in December 2021, these sets will hit shelves and online just before that on October 1st, 2021. The two smaller sets feature scenes ‘inspired by’ the previous film entries Homecoming and Far From Home. They also highlight some established villains (*scratches head). The largest of the sets is an all new scene but features some familiar faces. So many tantalizing questions with these sets! There won’t be any answers until December sadly. In the meantime let’s have a look at what to expect.

Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack

  • NAME: Spider-Man vs. Mysterio’s Drone Attack
  • SET #: 76184
  • THEME: Spider-Man
  • COST: $24.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 73
  • MINIFIGURES: 3
  • RELEASE DATE: October 1st, 2021
  • COST/BRICK: $0.342 (very poor value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 24 bricks/fig (superb value)

The smallest of the upcoming Fall 2021 releases is a LEGO® 4+ Playset ‘inspired by’ Spider-Man: Far From Home. As with all sets aimed at a younger builder, this one comes with a smaller piece count, minifigures and simple vehicle builds. A small SUV-style car and disc-shooter drone build make up the bulk of the construction here which sadly makes for a really poor cost-per-brick value (not unexpected for a 4+ set). But this is well made up for by a very excellent brick-to-fig ratio thanks to 3 great minifigures: Mysterio, Nick Fury and Spider-Man.

Nick Fury is the same print included in the Stark Jet and the Drone Attack (76130) and Avengers Helicarrier (76153) sets from 2019 and 2020 respectively. Mysterio receives a beautiful new design with great torso and leg printing. This primarily gold and magenta design matches the film version much better than the original 2019 minifigure. His ‘fishbowl’ helmet is the newer design from recent sets including this year’s Daily Bugle (76178). Rounding out the minifigures is of course the web-head himself, also with a new updated print. We’re finally getting the black & red suit created by Peter Parker towards the end of the film. This is a great set at a really affordable price for anyone looking to get some key MCU characters.

Spider-Man’s Drone Duel

  • NAME: Spider-Man’s Drone Duel
  • SET #: 76195
  • THEME: Spider-Man
  • COST: $24.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 198
  • MINIFIGURES: 2
  • RELEASE DATE: October 1st, 2021
  • COST/BRICK: $0.126 (very good value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 24 bricks/fig (great value)
Fall 2021 Spider-Man Sets: Drone Duel

The second of the Fall 2021 Spider-Man sets looks to be taking inspiration from the original MCU Spider-Man film, Homecoming. The Vulture is back again and Spider-Man seems to be dealing with yet another drone. Or is he? The design is really ‘spider-like’ and the black and gold colour scheme does match Spidey’s suit…so has he finally made his own drone? There’s a twist! If not, then I’m really starting to worry about the sheer volume of drones being sent after our web-headed hero.

There are 2 minifigures included in this set and they both look great. They also both raise so many questions! The Vulture is back (how? why? who?) with an updated brick-built flying wing and a new torso print. The helmet is a fun use of the pilot oxygen/mask mold created for the LEGO® City theme. FUN FACT: It first appeared in a set called Sky Police Drone Chase (60207) . . . coincidence? I have my suspicions. This new Spider-Man suit definitely has the community buzzing. It’s certainly striking and unlike anything seen in the films to date. It certainly caught my attention! Overall this is a fun looking set with great cost-per-brick and brick-to-fig values.

Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop

  • NAME: Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop
  • SET #: 76185
  • THEME: Spider-Man
  • COST: $49.99 CAD
  • BRICK COUNT: 355
  • MINIFIGURES: 4
  • RELEASE DATE: October 1st, 2021
  • COST/BRICK: $0.141 (average value)
  • BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 88 bricks/fig (great value)
Fall 2021 Spider-Man Sets: Sanctum Workshop

The last of the upcoming Fall 2021 Spider-Man sets is Spider-Man at the Sanctum Workshop. The next spidey film certainly seems to be packed with heroes and villains from previous adventures as we’re seeing the return of both Wong and Dr. Strange. This is a vignette scene similar to the original Doctor Strange set Dr. Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060). The Sanctum’s basement workshop is a small location build most likely packed with references and Easter eggs. A brick-built scorpion/plant monster is also included. No idea what it could be, but I’m just happy it’s not a drone. 😋 My favourite detail is definitely the printed tiles around the wall, a really sharp design.

The 4 minifigures included are all brand-new designs. Spider-Man’s new suit is very similar to the Iron Spider-Man suit first seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The torso design is different however, and the mechanical arms are not present. MJ is back with a simple flannel shirt and a fancy new hair do. Wong has a very different look compared to his original figure. He’s had a shave, grown out his hair and has a new costume under that practical yellow jacket. Lastly, we have Doctor Stephen Strange with new leg/torso printing and most excitingly, a new molded cape similar to that created for Batman in the 1989 Batmobile (76139) set. This is definitely going to be a big draw for collectors.

An Intriguing Line-Up

These upcoming sets really get the imagination going. Like a lot of movie tie-ins, you can’t help but wonder “what’s going on?” There’s been a history of sets containing a few too many spoilers, so we’ll see how these compare to the finished film. Overall this is a decent line-up with really affordable sets and some great minifigures. What do you all think? Are these on your radar? Do you have any theories on the film’s plot? Sound off in the comments and as always, keep on brickin’.
