The LEGO® Group has officially unveiled three of the Summer 2021 Star Wars sets. First spotted in leaked catalogues online, the following sets have now been listed on the LEGO® website. We’re heading back to the final season of the Clone Wars animated series with two great looking sets. Duel on Mandalore (75310) and Mandalorian Starfighter (75316) make reference to the fantastic “Siege of Mandalore” arc that was the show’s series finale. The third set is the Darth Vader Meditation Chamber (75296) as seen in The Empire Strikes Back. The Clone Wars sets will release August 1st and the Meditation Chamber is already available for pre-order on the LEGO® website.
Duel on Mandalore

- NAME: Duel on Mandalore
- SET #: 75310
- THEME: Star Wars
- COST: $24.99 CAD
- BRICK COUNT: 147
- MINIFIGURES: 2
- RELEASE DATE: August 1st, 2021
- COST/BRICK: $0.17 (satisfactory value)
- BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 74 bricks/fig (excellent value)
The set features a small throne build with break-away window and the Mandalorian vault for safe imprisonment of any Jedi (or Sith). The build itself however is quite basic and really doesn’t represent much in the way of play or display value. A moveable base/diorama similar to the Duels on Mustafar (75269) and Starkiller Base (75236) would have been a better incentive for many fans. The key selling point will undoubtedly be the minifigures. This is the second inclusion of this Ahsoka Tano minifigure after 2020’s Armored Assault Tank (75283). Although it is a reuse, it’s a great way to get a superb fig for a lower price. It’s also a chance to get an updated Darth Maul (or just plain ol’ Maul) with a great updated torso and leg printing.
Mandalorian Starfighter

- NAME: Mandalorian Starfighter
- SET #: 75316
- THEME: Star Wars
- COST: $79.99 CAD
- BRICK COUNT: 544
- MINIFIGURES: 3
- RELEASE DATE: August 1st, 2021
- COST/BRICK: $0.147 (average value)
- BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 181 bricks/fig (satisfactory value)
The Mandalorian Starfighter is only the second such model after Pre Vizsla’s Mandalorian Fighter (9525) all the way back in 2012. It’s a long overdue update for Star Wars fan. The wings lift and rotate like they do in the series and features an opening cockpit as well as stud shooters. Like the Duel on Mandalore, a key draw for this set is the excellent minifigure selection, all of which are brand new: Bo-Katan Kryze, Gar Saxon and a Mandalorian Loyalist. The printing on these figs is spectacular and recreate the characters beautifully. Star Wars vehicles are always great for playability and this one fills in a key hero ship seen in both the Clone Wars and The Mandalorian TV shows.
Darth Vader Meditation Chamber

- NAME: Darth Vader Meditation Chamber
- SET #: 75296
- THEME: Star Wars
- COST: $99.99 CAD
- BRICK COUNT: 663
- MINIFIGURES: 2
- RELEASE DATE: August 1st, 2021. Currently available for pre-order
- COST/BRICK: $0.151 (average value)
- BRICK-TO-FIG RATIO: 332 bricks/fig (low minifigure count for set size)
Recreating the dramatic scene in Episode V, the Darth Vader Meditation chamber features our favourite Sith Lord in his private …. egg? Sensory deprivation chamber? Man cave? Whatever you imagine it being, this 18+ set is designed with a moveable upper section atop a rotating display base with plaque. Two minifigures are included. Darth Vader is the variant with arm printing which was previously exclusive to Death Star Final Duel (75291). General Veers makes his fifth minifigure appearance, last seen in 2020’s AT-AT (75288) in his combat uniform, this figure features an updated Empirial Officer’s uniform print.
Overall it’s a charming display piece that will appeal to quite a few Star Wars fans. Unlike the clone wars sets, neither minifigure is all that new or updated, so the build itself is likely the bigger draw. The 18+ designation also makes sense as the stickered element shows the infamous scene just before Admiral Ozzel’s….umm ‘demotion’ (*cough*). Price point does feel a bit high given the overall size and build, but it should fit in nicely with the more recent vignettes and 18+ sets.

Definitely excited with the new minifigures, Bo-Katan’s helmet in particular looks incredible!
Bo Katan is definitely a highlight of this wave! There are a lot of great minifigs here though 🙂
