“Q” is for Queen Latifah

Q

“Q” is a hard letter in the A-to-Z Challenge. I had a fair amount of trouble coming up with a pop-culture reference that meant something to me starting with the letter. But, I settled on Queen Latifah. Generally speaking, I quite enjoy Queen Latifah movies. I find her to be a very entertaining and skilled performer. Her movies also tend to have a “feel good” vibe to them, or at least the ones I like the most do. For this post, I picked the Last Holiday poster. This is a movie that my wife and I watch every year around Christmas time.

The original photo of LEGO “Queen Latifah”. I used Photoshop to change the torso skin color, and make her facial expression a little more cheery. I also made the dress plain red.

For the LEGO version, I built a spiral staircase. I placed it on a base plate that was covered with grey and white 2×2 tiles. I then took various photos of some custom Minifigures made to look like characters from the film. To ensure sharpness of the characters in the poster, I used Photoshop to put them all together rather than taking one picture of all of them together.

As always, feel free to comment about anything relating to this post in the space below. This post was made as part of the A-to-Z Blogging Challenge. You can click here to visit the official site for more information on that.

Until next time,

  1. The first time I saw/heard Queen Latifah, she was on Sesame Street, singing about the letter “O.” I’ve really enjoyed her over the years and how she’s grown as an actress. This is a great poster! I’ve never seen the movie, but now I’ll have to add it to my Christmas movie list.
