LEGO Minifigures: Series 15 (Part 7)

Tribal Woman

I have to say that I have really enjoyed photographing Minifigures for these blog posts. I really think it is developing into something of a hobby in and of itself. If you have not checked it out already, I have set up an Instagram page where I will start posting some of my LEGO photos. For this particular review, I went with the Tribal Woman Minifig. I decided not to pose her somewhere in my LEGO city as I have with all the others. Instead, I dug into my box of really old instruction manuals, and I spent an evening putting together a modified version of set 6748, otherwise known as Boulder Cliff Canyon from the Western theme in 1997. It sure brought back a lot of memories. I had to save my allowance for weeks to buy it! I loved the Indians subtheme of the Western sets, those and the Islanders subtheme from Pirates. My sister and I used to play that the Indians were a more inland tribe that traded with the more coastal Islanders (we actually called the Islanders the Hutuchu Tribe). Good times!

In terms of the Tribal Woman Minifigure, I am quite pleased. As I mentioned, the Indians subtheme was important to me growing up, so there is nostalgic value to this Minifig. But, she is also nicely painted in native-style garb. Her hairpiece is the same as what the Minifigures had in the Western theme, but her feathers are not the simple black and white of those days, but incorporate red as well. Her moccasins are painted all the way around her legs, but she has no detailing on the back of the torso. The Minifig does come with an attachment that covers her back and allows the baby included to be attached. I also really like the baby, it is always cool to get unique accessories.

Tribal Woman’s face is a more commonly featured face than we saw way back in the day with the Western theme. Those Minifigs had noses painted on as well, and their eyes were a different shape than most Minifigures. To make this one more “tribal”, they have given her some face paint.

Overall, I really like Tribal Woman. Back detailing would have been nice, even if it is covered a lot of the time. This Minifigure is 4.5/5 for me. You can download your free Tribal Woman colouring page by clicking here.
