I reported earlier this year on the 2025 Canadian LEGO® Events page that Ekow Nimako’s LEGO® brick masterpiece, Building Black Civilizations: Journey of 1000 Ships was on display in Edmonton. Hopefully, you got to see it if you were in the area. Though the exhibit’s run in Edmonton just ended, other Canadians will now get the chance to see the builds. The exhibit recently added two Canadian stops, one in Kelowna, and one in Oshawa.

Kelowna, British Columbia:

  • VENUE: Kelowna Art Gallery
  • WHEN: May 24 – August 31, 2025
  • COST: General admission is $7.00
  • EVENT WEBSITE: kelownaartgallery.com

Oshawa, Ontario:

  • VENUE: Robert McLaughlin Gallery
  • WHEN: September 20, 2025 – February 16, 2026
  • COST: Free (suggested $5.00 donation)
  • EVENT WEBSITE: Robert McLaughlin Gallery

Interestingly enough, the Oshawa run coincides with Bricks in the Six. If, like me, you are driving from out east, Oshawa is an easy stop on the way in or out, right off the 401. Even if you’re not coming from the east, the venue is only about one hour away from Bricks in the Six. It might be worth making the trek if you are going to the convention anyway.

As always, if you know of any other LEGO®-related events in your neck of the woods, please don’t hesitate to let me know on social media or through TrueNorthBricks at gmail. If you want to learn more about Ekow Nimako, check out my 2023 interview with him!

Until next time,

Tom
