I was doing my groceries earlier this week and Easter chocolates lined the shelves by the door. Kinder Surprise eggs have been around since I was a kid. However, on this trip I noted there are a few different sizes that did not exist back in the day. On top of that, they have licensed themes. As an AFOL, I couldn’t help but drag my hobby into the thought process. So, here’s a Thursday thought for you: why are LEGO® Kinder Eggs not a thing?

Firstly, a Kinder Egg is not that different from a LEGO® CMF blind box. Secondly, a Minifigure fits in any size of Kinder Egg. I bought a couple of sizes to test this out. The smallest egg, which is what I remember from childhood, comfortably fits a Minifigure. They are cheaper than a LEGO® CMF blind box, but Kinder and LEGO® could also team up for larger sized eggs.
Kinder Eggs would not even have to change their packaging to fit LEGO®.

The larger eggs actually cost more than a polybag at the dollar store. In my mind, you could put the equivalent of a Minifigure polybag inside the large egg. On top of that, it could be a licensed theme. The LEGO® Group and Kinder already both do Marvel, for example. I would certainly rather get LEGO® than the typical Kinder toys.

As it stands, I have pretty much no interest in Kinder toys. The chocolate is not that good either. Now, if there was LEGO® inside… like a special CMF series or the equivalent of a polybag with a Minifigure, I would be fully on board. Would you buy LEGO® Kinder Eggs? What themes would you want to see inside? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom
