A retailer in Asia revealed the January 2024 Year of the Dragon GWP. So far, we’ve got a pretty clear image of the model and box. However, the exact release date and price point to get one in Canada remain unknown for the time being. With that said, I can speculate based on past Lunar New Year GWPs.
Lunar New Year LEGO® GWPs over the last four years:
- 2020 – Year of the Rat GWP released on January 13 with purchases over $80 CAD.
- 2021 – Year of the Ox GWP released on February 1 with purchases over $85 CAD.
- 2022 – Year of the Tiger GWP released on January 27 with purchases over $110 CAD.
- 2023 – Year of the Rabbit GWP released on January 25 with purchases over $115 CAD.
Based on what we’ve seen in previous years, I would not expect the Year of the Dragon before the second half of January. Additionally, the price point to get the Lunar New Year GWPs has steadily increased from year to year. So, I suggest planning for a minimum spend of $115 CAD, though it may cost you more. With that said, Chapters and Indigo typically sell this set in store. You can even still order the Year of the Ox online for $12.99 CAD as I write this.
