I’ve been waiting for this news all year. For months, rumours swirled of a Majisto’s Magical Workshop remake, similar to the Forest Hideout from 2022. Last summer, the whispers shifted, pointing to a Black Friday GWP release. This week, the rumours gained more credibility with a leak of the box art on Reddit. Interestingly, the picture is quite clear to boot. From what I can tell, this is a faithful recreation of the original set. Undoubtedly, it features some updates with modern pieces, similar to Forest Hideout. For example, a quick glance already reveals the axes are different. However, that is to be expected. Of course, I don’t know all the details of this set yet since this was a leak. Additionally, there is no official word from the LEGO® Group yet, so take everything that follows with a grain of salt.

Majisto’s Magical Workshop (Remake)

- THEME: Gift-with-Purchase
- VALUE: TBD
- BRICK COUNT: 365

- RELEASE DATE: November 18, 2023
- AVAILABILITY: Rumors indicate the set will be available from November 18-19 (double points weekend). It allegedly returns November 24-27 (Black Friday/Cyber Monday).
I don’t know the value or the actual price point for this set yet. I estimate it has a value around $30-35 CAD. Additionally, if previous years are any indication, you will probably need to spend around $220 CAD to get one. Of course, last year we saw two GWPs, one for $220 CAD and the other for $320 CAD. With that said, Forest Hideout came with purchases over $190 CAD back in 2022. I suppose we’ll know the actual values soon enough.

Majisto’s Magical Workshop (Original)
- SET #: 6048
- THEME: Castle

Note: Canadian and American LEGO® prices were fairly close in 1994. - BRICK COUNT: 185

I still have my original Majisto’s Magical Workshop from childhood. In fact, the image above is a photo of my own instruction manual. I’m tempted to re-build the set now that I know the remake is coming. I like how the new design appears true to the original. I even like the new door that LEGO® added. The piece count is considerably higher as well. However, I am not a fan of the new Majisto minifig. He looks identical to the boring wizard from the Lion Knights Castle. Even the original Majisto had torso printing. I wish they’d given us the wizard from the June ’22 BAM selection. With that said, the new Dragon Knight is awesome. And it’s a female minifig too based on blurrier photos that I saw online. I’m excited for this release. What do you think? Let me know in the comments or reach out on social media.
Until next time,
-Tom
