A new brand showed up in the Speed Champions theme in early 2020. Consequently, the Lamborghini Hurácan and Urus joint the growing LEGO® fleet. Since then, the LEGO® Group has dropped the occasional cryptic teaser on social media regarding an expansion of the partnership with Automobili Lamborghini. Earlier today, they announced the newest Technic set, the Lamborghini Sián (42115). The official press release describes the set as follows:
The star of the show, 1:8 scale LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 embodies the unrivalled power, visionary design and futuristic elegance of the limited-edition Italian super sports car. First presented at Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019, only 63 of the full-sized Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 models are being produced, making this 3,696-piece replica the ultimate collector’s item for luxury car lovers and LEGO fans looking for their next building challenge.

At 1:8 scale, the LEGO® Lamborghini Sián measures 60 cm long, 25 cm wide, and 13 cm high. Additionally, the car features an 8-speed gear box that functions using a moveable paddle gearshift. Just like in the real car, the spoiler adjusts, the front and rear hoods open, and the model has scissor doors. Among many other amazing features, which include authentic brake discs and suspension, the rims of the model come in gold, just like the real deal.

I have never purchased one of the large Technic car sets. In fact, I only own one Technic set which I bought to recycle the pieces. However, this model might tip the scales for me. I loved the Lamborghini Countach and Diablo as a kid. Reportedly, the Sián is the modern equivalent; inspired by the Countach itself. Likely, I will never own an actual Lamborghini. However, this model is the first hybrid produced by Automobilia Lamborghini. So, if I won the lottery, this car checks all the right boxes for me. Until next time,
-Tom
