LEGO® Builder's Journey
Are you a fan of LEGO® mobile gaming? If so, I have news for you. I am not sure what is more exciting about this announcement, the fact that we are getting a new LEGO® video game, or that it is being produced by The LEGO® Group themselves. Yes, you read that correctly. The LEGO® Group produced their own video game in house, called LEGO® Builder’s Journey.
Firstly, a look at Builder’s Journey. As this article is published, so too is the game on Apple Arcade. What is Apple Arcade? It is a new gaming service launched in September 2019 by Apple. Put simply, it is a game streaming service. Therefore, $5.99 a month buys unlimited access to all-you-can-play video games. Think of it like the Netflix or Crave of video games. It is an interesting subscription concept that allows you to play your games across all your devices, and even share an account with family members.
The game description of Builder’s Journey reads as follows:
Build your own path in a beautiful puzzle adventure. The LEGO® Group takes players on an epic adventure in LEGO® Builder’s Journey, available now exclusively on Apple Arcade. LEGO® Builder’s Journey is an artistic, nonverbal puzzle adventure with meditative music where players build to solve challenges, while moving through stunning brick built universes, which showcase the endless possibilities of the creative play material and deliver a poetic narrative highlighting the importance of play in our lives.
Builder’s Journey was produced in house by the LEGO® Group.
Additionally, Builder’s Journey is completely a LEGO® product. LEGO® games are common, however a third party usually produces them. Incidentally, Builder’s Journey is the first game to be produced by Light Brick, an internal games studio. I did a little digging, and discovered that Light Brick is a new venture composed of only nine people at the LEGO® Group. Here’s hoping a number of interesting titles are on the horizon.
As previously mentioned, by the time you read this, Builder’s Journey is already available exclusively on Apple Arcade. Not subscribed to Apple Arcade? Not a problem, you can try it for free for a whole month. Check it out by clicking here. Let me know what you think in the comments below, or by shouting out on social media.
