Once Upon a Halloween
(An original LEGO inspired poem from True North Bricks)
There is a tale which I know,
That took place a long time ago.
Three sisters met a fate obscene,
Once upon a Halloween.
Living far out of the town,
They gained great repute and renown.
Three healers in the forest green,
Once upon a Halloween.
There came a man to their door,
Where many stood for help before.
He sought a cure of root and bean,
Once upon a Halloween.
To the sisters he did plead,
His daughter was sick and in need.
Upon death’s door at just sixteen,
Once upon a Halloween.
To the town the sisters flew,
But, there was nothing they could do.
Perhaps if sooner had they been,
Once upon a Halloween.
Since his daughter did not live,
The sisters he could not forgive.
A fate he a planned, most cruel and mean,
Once upon a Halloween.
Town folk rallied to his cause,
Three sisters captured without pause.
Accused of witchcraft most unclean,
Once upon a Halloween.
Bound atop a wooden spire,
Condemned to burn within a fire.
The spell they cast was unforeseen,
Once upon a Halloween.
It’s said the fire did not kill,
The sisters haunt the forest still.
Each year a child from town they glean,
Once upon a Halloween.
