LEGO on vacation… Day 3

Today we spent some time around in the nearby town of Knowlton, Quebec. It is a very small town, with a lot of shuttered up stores (and no LEGO, at least not that I could find). But, it has a long history. We ate lunch at a place called The Relais, which is the restaurant inside of the local hotel, the Auberge Knowlton. TripAdvisor says it is the number two place to eat in the area… But, given that the town is so small, that doesn’t necessarily say much. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, it cost $16. I felt it was a little overpriced for what I got. I have had bigger, better burgers with more fries for the same price. I would rank the burger as average. Not bad, but not great. The staff was a little slow, but very friendly.

The building itself was more interesting. Apparently this Auberge is the oldest, continuously running hotel in the Eastern Townships. It dates back to 1849, before there was a railroad, and people traveled through the area in stagecoaches. While ownership and names have changed, the building has remained, and the hotel has apparently been open ever since. I find that sort of thing interesting. You are sitting somewhere that is significantly older than you. I wonder, who has passed through those doors in that time? What were their stories?

The rest of the day was spent practising my photography, walking, and swimming. Today’s picture has already been my most popular ever on Instagram! 39 likes may not seem like much to some, but for me it is a record! Check it out below.

Until next time,
