I got a package in the mail recently, and inside was the first piece of custom merch I’ve ever made. For a while now, I’ve been sketching out AFOL-inspired designs and looking for ways to bring them into the real world. Up to this point, I’ve been experimenting with different print-on-demand services—mostly just to see what was possible without taking too many risks. The results were all over the place: some okay, some awful, none actually printed in Canada like they claimed. So, one could say I saw the sign. This delivery is my first little taste of trying something new—and this time, it feels different.

I had a batch of aluminum signs made, each 30 × 46 cm, the kind you can hang up to warn people about “AFOL construction zones.” They turned out even better than I hoped—solid, crisp, and ready to hang with pre-drilled holes.

I saw the sign... and printed it! This aluminum sign is my first piece of AFOL merch for my store!
I saw the sign… or rather made I made it.

These signs are already up in the True North Bricks shop. It’s a small step, but for me, it feels like the beginning of something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time – selling my own LEGO®-inspired art.

I’ll share more as things come together. For now, I’m just excited—and grateful—that this idea is finally starting to take shape.

Until next time,

–Tom
