Minifigure Monday has been on hiatus for a while. I have always tried to present different artworks that LEGO® bricks have inspired me to create. In the past, these involved coloring pages, Minifigure inspired poetry, photography, and remakes of classic movie posters and album covers using LEGO® elements. However, I draw a lot in my spare time too. More specifically, I draw a lot of Minifigures. Over the years, I have accumulated many illustrations that I never end up showing anyone. I noticed a few months ago that several of them were LEGO-fied versions of musicians I like. Subsequently, I spent the next several months drawing up a few more in order to create a complete Brickstock Fantasy Minifigures Series.

Starting next week, I will reveal one new character I have drawn each week. Ultimately, there will be 12 of them, just like an actual Minifigures Series from the LEGO® Group. Each one is the Minifigure representation of a recording artist that has meant something to me at some point in my life. I will share why I selected each artist, a little about how I drew them, some preliminary sketches, and the final artwork. It has been a long road drawing these characters. While many of them were drawn in the last few months, some date back years. However, if I was to design a Minifigures Series with no licensing issues to hold me back, this would be it. For now, I hope you enjoy the poster I made above, and the character teaser below. I hope to see you back here next week.
Until next time,
-Tom
