Avengers Advent Calendar Revealed (*updated)

The Avengers Advent Calendar (76196) has been officially revealed online thanks to a listing on the Marvel website. No official release date is provided but high-res images give us some great looks at what is included. Like previous advent calendars, there will be a mix of minifigures and small builds in 24 boxes. The front cover folds down to show what looks like The Avengers compound for a background. The price is also unknown but will probably come in at $49.99 CAD putting it in line with other licensed advent calendar sets.

(*update: On August 2nd, this set was uploaded to LEGO.COM with a September 1st release date, and priced at $49.99 CAD)

A Marvel-ous Year

This marks the first year for a Marvel-themed advent calendar. The selection here looks like it draws references from the Marvel Comics IP and the MCU. The minifigures are a solid line-up with a couple of exclusive figures. The ‘ugly christmas sweater’ has been a really fun recurring theme in the advent calendars of late. This time around we get Iron Man himself in a lovely red top that highlights his chest light. Joining Iron Man are Thor, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Nick Fury and Thanos. The idea of Thanos celebrating Christmas is absolutely hilarious – what do you get the man that already got rid of half of everything? 😄

The builds look really good too. A few notable constructs are the SHIELD Hellicarrier, Avengers Tower, Quinjet and the Hulkbuster Armor. But I think a big draw is the chance to get the Infinity Gauntlet complete with all 6 stones in one shot. Prior to this you needed to buy all the Avengers: Infinity War Sets from 2018 or the Avengers Compound Battle (76131) from 2019. And of course we’ll get a Christmas tree for good measure. It is an advent calendar after all. 🎄

Lots to Choose From

This is one of five advent calendars releasing for the 2021 holiday season. The others include the usual offerings from the Friends, City, Harry Potter and Star Wars. It’s always great to see a new theme come to a popular line. I’ve really enjoyed the Harry Potter and City calendars the last couple of years and think this will make a fun new theme to collect.

Are you guys adding this one to your wish lists? Do you get one or all of the calendars? Comment below and let us know. And as always, keep on brickin’.
