Every summer, the City theme comes out with new science-related, exploration based sets. As a scientist, I love these side themes. This summer, we launch back into space. Recently, the NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set was released in the Creator Expert line (you can click here to read more about it). But, coming on June 23, City will also journey to the stars in a series of sets inspired by actual NASA missions and plans. The touch of realism is really what makes this theme appealing to me, and I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on some of these kits. Today, I thought we would take a closer look at what’s coming in a couple of weeks!

Concluding Thoughts…
The cost per brick for each of these sets is pretty high, and averages out at about $0.22 if you count both of the people packs. City theme sets tend to cost a lot per brick, so I am not overly shocked there. It would have been nice to get at least one of these sets at a better value though. Overall, these sets look pretty awesome in my opinion, and I am looking forward to the Lunar Space Station the most. It will be interesting to see how easily you can combine more than one together to make a station more along the lines of the International Space Station. What do you think of the new LEGO® space sets? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Until next time,
-Tom

These are the sets I’m saving my money for. And I am definitely getting more that one space station set to see how well they work together.
I look forward to seeing what you produce!
Is the NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander, creator expert kit that they seem to be pushing hard not also apart of this series?
Personally I like the Space direction and look forward to some of these sets.
🤔Technically, I don’t think the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander is part of the same series. The Mars sets are in the City theme, and are only loosely based on NASA designs. The Lunar Lander is in the Creator Expert theme (as you mentioned), and aspires to be a little more realistic. They also have different target age groups. I am right there with you on looking forward to it all! Thanks for commenting!
Ah, my favourite of the research-y adjuncts to LEGO City rolls around again!
Most of these are looking really good, especially the smaller sets. That mini-shuttle from the Satellite Service Mission set is really nice-looking for its size, and I love the look of the big rocket sets. I’m less keen on the Mars Research Shuttle; it just doesn’t do as much for me. Also, I’m not so keen on orange as an accent colour. I think they had blue (or maybe red) before and I think that looked better.
Still, I plan on picking up several of these.
They went a little shuttle crazy for sure with this theme, but I guess the Mars Research Shuttle is good for those who want a middle of the range price. Red probably would have been a nicer accent, but I think orange suits Mars alright as well. I also agree that the large rockets look amazing. Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts. It’s always great to hear what other fans think!
