“P” is for Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia is a video game series that dates back to 1989. There have been several installments of the game, over many reboots of the series. The popularity of the games even spawned a movie by Disney in 2010. I did not play the earliest games, or even the newest ones. I played The Sands of Time, The Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones from 2003-2006 on the original Xbox. I really enjoyed the games. When I went to Africa for a year, I lived in a bush camp with no electricity. I was halfway through The Warrior Within at the time. I remember being excited to go home for Christmas and being able to finish the game. When the movie came out in 2010, I was happy that it was filmed with a tip of the hat to those games that I loved.

I chose to remake the movie poster for this post instead of one of the video game covers. LEGO produced a series of sets based on the film, so I figured why not use the Minifigures as they were intended? There were six sets based on the film, but neither the movie nor the sets fared very well I don’t think. The LEGO sets were discontinued the same year that they were released. I picked up a couple of them because this series featured LEGO camels and ostriches (I like to collect LEGO animals). For this poster, I also gave a nod to some of the LEGO sets from my youth. The skeletons and chains are all from my old Pirates and Castles sets. I also put in one of my favorite childhood sets to serve as the castle in the poster, the Night Lord’s Castle from the Fright Knights theme.
